2nd candidate announces intent to run for Moffat County coroner
CRAIG — Jesse Arthurs announced his candidacy for Moffat County coroner on Thursday in a letter of intent submitted to the Craig Press.
“I believe I am the most-qualified candidate, because I have 12 years experience as a deputy coroner, conduct myself in a respectable way and treat everyone as if they were my own family member,” Arthurs said.
Arthurs has been deputy coroner of Moffat County for three years and was chief deputy coroner of Delta County for nine years before working in Craig. Arthurs is also general manager of Grant Mortuary and Crematory, a position he has held for four years.
In his letter of intent, Arthurs wrote that, if elected, he would “continue to advance the effectiveness and level of service” of the office. He also hopes to continue the office’s events with high school students to educate students about issues such as texting while driving.
“It is my promise that I will continue to serve each decedent and family member with dignity, compassion and respect,” he said in the letter.
