The Ladies Silver Bullet Classic golf tournament will tee off at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Yampa Valley Golf Course.

The 28th annual event, a 36-hole outing hosted by Yampa Valley Ladies’ Golf Association, is the premier women-only tournament of the year at YVGC. All flights will hit from the red tees and must have a measurable handicap for placement and to determine payouts.

There will be a practice round for those registered Friday at the course, a participation number that stands at 65 participants this year.

Organizer Susan Utzinger said this is a small rise from 2013, and though it’s only a few more women involved, it’s already a victory.

“Numbers for golf are down all over, so it’s still phenomenal that we have more than we did last year,” she said.

The two days out on the links are always enjoyable, Utzinger said, with many ladies returning year after year to compete, hailing from around Colorado and Utah.

In between rounds, there will be a special dinner Saturday night with live music provided by Frank Hanel, complete with a cash bar and plenty of door prizes.

Between the contest with the clubs during the daytime and the entertainment at night, it makes for a memorable weekend each year, Utzinger said.

“It’s always just a great bunch of girls who come out to play,” she said.
