Long time Craig resident, Karl Huntsman passed away December 26, 2019. Karl was born one of eight children to Lloyd and Lucella Mae (Juby) on June 28, 1944. He spent his childhood in Durango where he graduated high school with the class of 1962. Karl delivered ice cream for Meadow Gold. He also worked at the sawmill before leaving to work for Baroid for over 20 years. Karl worked for the Moffat County Sheriffs office from 1982-2018. He also volunteered for Search & Rescue as well as the Craig Fire Department. He held many positions while with these organizations. From fire chief to treasurer. Karl also held positions at the state level for fire fighting. Karl enjoyed meeting new people, along with serving the community. He was a member of the Craig Lions Club, Elks, Odd Fellows, Moffat County Fair Board,and the Colorado Fire Fighters Association. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather. He never missed a sporting event with his grandkids. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the Craig Community which he served. Karl is survived by his two daughters, Brenda (David) Reynolds Steamboat Springs, CO, Tammy Condit Grand Junction, CO two grandchildren, Courtney Reynolds (Riley great grandson) Steamboat Springs, CO., Austin Standifird Grand Junction, CO., many nieces and nephews. Karl is preceded in death by his parents, and eight siblings. In lieu of flowers make a donation in Karl’s name to the Moffat County Fair. A celebration of life will be held June 26, 2021 at Moffat County Fairgrounds from 1pm – 3 pm.
