Obituary: Douglas Fuller

February 27, 1953 – September 22, 2021

Douglas Anthony Fuller passed away at his home in Morapos Creek, Colorado on September 22, 2021. He was 68. Doug was born in Fairfield, CA in 1953. His love for the mountains brought him to Montana where he welcomed his only daughter, Katy Rozell Fuller in 1984. Doug spent time in most of the west/northwest before settling in Colorado, where he lived since 2005. He enjoyed taking his horses into the back country and spending time outside doing “cowboy stuff”, as he would say. In 2013, Doug proudly became a grandpa to Gavin Anthony Ferguson. Doug taught Gavin how to ride a horse and avidly supported Gavin’s passion for playing baseball. He was his grandson’s hero. Doug was a good man who was loved by many. He truly was one of a kind. Although his time was cut short, he lived a full life and always made others feel comfort and joy in his presence. Doug loved being a cowboy and a grandpa more than anything. He also appreciated good whiskey, better cigars, and starched Polo’s. His personality was larger than life. He knew how to have fun and never met a stranger. Friends and family far and wide are gravely impacted by his life ending too soon. In addition to Katy and Gavin, Doug is survived by his mother, Virginia Dooley and his sister, Shirley Monger. A local celebration of life will be held at a later date in Craig, CO. Doug always said that the most beautiful site he had ever seen was when the sunrise hit the Sawtooth Mountains in Stanley Idaho, his daughter and grandson will put him to rest there this spring. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Moffat County 4-H at 539 Barlcay Street Craig, CO 81625.
