OREC hosts listening session in Craig

The Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, known as OREC, will be holding community presentations and listening sessions on Aug. 23 and 24 in Steamboat and Craig.

OREC provides advocacy and resources for stakeholders, businesses and communities that rely on the continued health of the outdoor recreation industry economy. OREC recently launched its first ever competitive grant program that will invest $4.1 million into the development and recovery of outdoor industries in Colorado.

The office is also hosting a statewide listening tour to engage directly with communities across Colorado.

On the Yampa Valley stops of the tour, OREC has partnered with The Wright and will be holding listening tours with presentations followed by campfire conversations.

Campfire Conversations is a feature event of On the Road, a special collaboration of The Wright and OREC. On the Road sets out to rural Colorado communities to experience first-hand the relationships we hold with our landscapes, our industries, our histories, and our neighbors. Stories of people and place are at the heart of this initiative.

On Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 3-4 p.m. the Craig listening session will be held at the Yampa Building at 775 Yampa Ave. From 4-5 p.m. there will be a happy hour at the 518 Wine Bar at 518 Yampa Ave., followed by the campfire conversations from 5-6:30 p.m.
