I think that the craig fire department did a wonderful job as to maintain the fire As to the building I was there just when the West Routt Fire Department got there and from that point I could see that the effort was going to be one of containment not salvage. I would like to think that the community would support the fire department. I have talked with a few of the occupants of the building and they are of the same opinion that it was a total loss. I would however like to point out that there was an attempted brake in at the furnature store just as the fire was being reported that has not made the news yet, Strange that there was no mention of that or the dumpster fier that was called in last night. Is there a link to the county shop fire also????

Maybe if there were no cedar shakes on the building, it would have been easier to contain. Lots of memories went up in smoke, but I am so thankful no one was hurt. Craig's fire department does an amazing job, and they are selfless in their dedication to this community. Didn't know about the others. Maybe a letter to the editor is in order? It sometimes seems as if there is very little local news going on in Craig. Maybe it wouldn't hurt them to take a look at the old Empire-Courier. That was full of local news-coming and going of Cragites. What fun it is to look at old copies and see what was going on in this town then. It really let you know the people and events of the area.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, imagine Craig without a fire department. All of those that have criticism need to post their addresses so that the guy's won't waste their time coming to aid you, they will anyway but why should they? I am convinced that the mall fire, the alleged break-in and the dumpster fire are connected. Thieves are not known for being very smart in this town. This all sounds like someone needed a distraction so they could rob the furniture store. They are brainless considering most thieves would set the fire ACROSS town to draw resources away from them. Call it wierd but thats my thought on this. The county shop has already determined that a faulty coffe pot was the culprit in their near miss. I am ashamed to admit that I was alive when the Empire-Courier was still in production and the Daily Press was a second comer crammed into a cubbyhole where Blevins electronics/H&R block is now. I read the E.C. for real news and barely glanced at the D.P., same as I do now. There is alot of local news going on in Craig they just choose what suits them, not the public, to report. I too could care less what happens in Steamboat Springs and can easily access a Steamboat paper if there ever was anything interesting happening there. I could also do without 4 pages of garbeldy-guuk I cannot read anyway, but hey, luckily it is not my paper business. Support your local Firemen/Cops/EMT's/MD's/RN's/Techs and even the secretaries. Craig would be a dismal place without the support of our local public servants. Suprise one today by thanking them for their service, to you.
