rise and fall
This evening I woke up to the sunset casting a shadow on my bedroom. After a much-needed afternoon nap I was thrilled to witness yet another beautiful San Diego sunset. Waking up just in time for its final appearance of the day. Oftentimes we take advantage of the rising and falling of the sun everyday, when in fact it is the most important thing that happens everyday. I want to watch more sunrises. There is something so liberating about waking up with the sun instead of after. You feel as if you are one step ahead before you even get out of bed. I have realized that the littlest things can make a stressful city day better, if you just slow down. Although I have always said that country people are nicer since being back in San Diego. I have found that people from the city exude just as much kindness if they rise with the sunrise and fall with the sunset, if they appreciate the natural beauty of their surroundings away from the city lights.
