Question of the week
News this week showed snowpack in the Yampa River basin has reached 94 percent of median for the date. Do you think Moffat County is out of the woods as far as drought concerns?

I see police tape but then there are photos from inside? Did the reporter have permission to enter that residence? It is in poor taste to have these photos posted that is the personal belongings of the home owners one of whom perished. I think the photographer should be arrested for tampering with evidence or trespassing!

Just do the inevitable and ask the Fire Department to take it over and hope they are crazy enough to do it.

“Is 2.8 grams an acceptable amount to remove from two cities, two counties and one town in a calendar year by a task force designed to investigate and enforce against it?”
This is hilarious! Hello they busted several meth cooks. cooks who would have continued to do what COOKS do and that is COOK meth to sell in our communities. Just because when they busted them they didn't have loads of product lying around to pump up the street value of seized drugs means nothing.
Some info for the poorly educated editorial board.
Each pound of meth produced leaves behind five or six pounds of toxic waste. Meth cooks often pour leftover chemicals and byproduct sludge down drains in nearby plumbing, storm drains, or directly onto the ground. Chlorinated solvents and other toxic byproducts used to make meth pose long-term hazards because they can persist in soil and groundwater for years. Clean-up costs are exorbitant because solvent contaminated soil usually must be incinerated.
The average meth “cook” annually teaches ten other people how to make the drug.
Stopping COOKS prevented thousands of grams of meth being sold and used in our community for the foreseeable futures. The editorial board should be embarrassed. Dollar for Dollar…laughable!

I stopped donating to United Way when I saw the same organizations dominate the awards.
1. VNA
2. Dental Coalition
3. Horizons
4. Craig Mental Health
5. Boys and Girls Club
They continually receive nearly half the funds leaving many worthy orginizations with nothing.
I have chosen to donate directly to an organization I believe is deserving and will continue to do so.

Maybe just maybe it has more to do with the fact that we have diluted our talent pools by offering so many sports.
We offer multiple sports options every season. Football now has to compete with soccer and cross country for athletes. Boys basketball and wrestling now have a successful hockey program to compete with. Three of top football players for MC this season are playing for the Steamboat Sailors hockey team and others are playing club hockey (which made the frozen four last year). Now look at girls basketball asides from a handful of swimmers and a lone wrestler this is the only athletic choice for girls thus a deeper talent pool and more success. While I agree that one coach needs to go. We also have spread ourselves thin.

“the parks and rec director told the American Legion that they could not sell fundraiser raffle tickets at the event without paying for a space. When informed that no veterans would be denied access to Veterans Park or he would be charged with trespassing, it was agreed they could have a space.”
Who strong armed who? You gave the city an ultimatum for wanting to charge you to make money at an event organized by the city. One that brings in a huge crowd. Who in turn would support your raffle. How would your raffle have gone without the concert?

It is for open space meaning it it can't developed so $25,000 seems right. If it could be developed of course the value would be much higher. VFW has a right to do what they choose with the property but it sounds to me they got their little feelers hurt and our community will pay for it.

Let be honest the media doesn't care about anything but the bottomline and exploited 9-11 to sell ad space. Those who truly remember that day remember it on a daily basis.
