A message of fear. You are an extention of the mindset of the Bush Administration. Shame on you. I don't want to live in a world like that. This isn't Germany. Are you going to pay for it? No legislation in the world will stop what you suggest. If I couldn't get a gun in and I was ticked off at someone and I was hell bent on hurting that person, I'd just wait outside.

Same with gun control bs…..people kill people. i've got a hand held weed puller that could get someone. Will you legislate those too? Baseball bats?

btw… where will one “check” their concealed weapons, legally carried by law abiding citizens. Many, many people around you, everyday in Moffat County, are armed and carry concealed weapons permits and I feel safer because of this.

I suggest you leave this alone or move somewhere else where you enjoy living under lock and key. The world is what we make it, not what “they” or “you” tell us it is.

I'm willing to bet the author is in agreement with the REAL ID act, which I will NEVER accept. It's as if Germany is on the rise again. Everything in the name of “National Security”. That was Hitler's biggest excuse! Mr. Hitler also pushed “Romans 13” down the throats of the religious.

Colorado offered legislation in 05 against the real id act. i don't believe it's ratified. We have a different governor and Dems. want the ACT. It's worth keeping an eye on this or move to Montana and stand with that governor…..which I'll do if Colorado accepts it.

May I ask the writer what exactly is “our full potention”? What are we supposed to become? An overcrowded, crime filled community without the resources to stay on top of it? The Craig Fire Department is a volunteer department don't forget. Where exactly will the funds come from to mandate anything to them? We citizens just got hit with a HUGH new tax bill, remember?

Have you been to the grocery store lately? Filled your gas tank lately? It's just going to get worse and both City and County need to button down the hatches and reduce spending on anything “speculative” and stay focused on the present.

Social Security, Medi-Care, Medi-Care Advantage, SChip, you name it, are in serious trouble, all programs have been cut in the new budget. Also, the hyper-inflation is seriously hurting all our “fixed income” citizens. Does anyone even wonder why the Kum & Gos aren't finished? Why there are empty homes in town. Why the same homes and land have been on the markets for some time now with ads now “Price Reduced”.

Let's talk about “Unfunded” Federal Mandates. There is a big missing piece of reality going on here.

If you build it they will come. I refer to the hospital and recruiting doctors. Guess what, there are no doctors. You must recruit medical professionals from overseas these days because of the falling interest in becoming doctors over the last couple of decades because of federal mandates and regulations (insurance), cost of medial school, etc. btw, the new budget CUTS funding for training new doctors.

What everyone in charge doesn't know is a lot.

The Royal Gorge Bridge was built in like 90 days and you say 20 years? What's up with that? I want to be on the “feasibility” panel. It doesn't take 18 months to do this job and it DOESN'T take that much money to “check it out”.

I think Craig and Steamboat should hook themselves up with the existing rail between them and the rest of the state can do their own work to join in.

A project like this is far greater than the bogus “stimulus” package the Congress just passed. Fasten your seat belts everyone, the economy has become a roller coaster. You will see 4/gal gas in the near future, another good reason for the rail service. A coal fired train would be cool but I don't think there is a scrubber system for the exhaust. New Energy Bill from Congress has cut the emission from coal close to 40% in next 7 years. The Supreme Court has ruled against Cap and Trade. Never count your chickens before the eggs are hatched.

According to Senator Allard, two days ago, I asked him myself, he is unaware of any permits for new coal fired power plants in Colorado nor has he been briefed on anything in the works…but he “wished”.

Both City and County budgets need to keep the rising fuel costs in mind. Hyper-inflation is in the works and I see less revenue on the “bottom line” for everyone.

I am willing to bet we will start witnessing foreclosures and bankrupcys like the rest of the nation. I'm already seeing empty homes. Many mortgage companies are also going bankrupt, i.e., Countrywide. They will not be able to pay the property taxes on these properties.

Banks are not loaning money right now so no one is buying these homes…just incase you haven't noticed. If you're fortunate to buy you MUST have 20% cash down….party is over on the bs loans of sub-prime.

I'm betting the city and county will see a dramatic decrease in revenue so don't count your chickens until they're hatched. Every city in the country is in the same boat. Every bank in the country is in the same boat.

I hope the city reads this. The “Survivor Partys” of the late 80's weren't called “survivor” without good cause.

The values of homes across this nation have dropped over 20% and no one is talking about that. what our leaders don't know about the state of the nation is a lot.

Our economy is on the brink of implosion and they talk about taxes….HA…..let's talk about food that will all to soon be too expensive to buy….it's called hyper-inflation. Costs of everything, food, gas, heat, everything, is headed straight for the roof. Meanwhile, wages stay flat. Any raises lately at Trapper Mine?

Wake up and smell the coffee…get informed. Gold boullion is over 950/oz today. The price of gold is an indicater of trouble…..actually gold is being manipulated, it's actually closer to 5K/oz..

Those who think all is well and you have that warm and fuzzy feeling inside, well, good luck to ya.

Very good subject to address. We must secure our local radio airwaves and encourage all citizens of the county to keep a battery operated transistor radio at hand. Communications are everything.

The earthquake this morning in Baja, California knocked out 1.2 million cell phone services. They lost service during the recent fires as well. Local radio airways are number one.

The FCC just passed laws to let big corporations own most airways controlled by a recording in some office hundreds of miles away the from community they service. This is causing problems already across the nation.

I also suggest we gather a local force of volunteers who know the area, the people and have the equipment to manuver in an emergency.

Both of these senators should step down or better yet, thrown out of office.

If you had spent the last two years viewing the senate floor debates as I have you'd be flipping your cork. These men do as they are told to do, not what they are supposed to do which is to uphold their oath of office.

    Neither man has done this.

Regarding the caucus let me add, An uninformed vote is a dangerous vote. It's not ok, in my opinion, to just vote your party anymore.

Does ANYONE realize that McCain has an (F-) in 2nd Amendment rights? Does anyone care? Do you even know this? Same with the other candidates, except Ron Paul. Paul says he will pull out of the UN and the tradedeals because they take our guns. All the other candidates say they'll abide by the treatys. I don't think Romney even knows what's in those agreements signed by King George. I do, I've read them. Give your sheriff a call and rattle his cage about our guns and see where he stands on the issue. Will we give them up?
