    I was simply trying to point out that we have an impact and a responsibility toward the elk. Perhaps you're right. Don't feed them, don't shoot them, don't destroy their habitat. Make all the people disappear, and let the "wild"life live and die as wildlife and as nature intended.
    I'm not the one out of touch with reality, and belonging in a teepee.

    It's wrong to call the elk situation natural. There is nothing natural about the towns, roads, traffic, and fences that the elk have to deal with. Or sharing their feed with herds of cattle, sheep, and horses. They run for their lives from September, when the calves are barely 3 months old, through the rut and into November and December, a time when elk herds should be putting on fat for the coming winter. Tens of thousands of calves are orphaned during the cow hunt, their odds of surviving the winter reduced.
    All this interference, yet now that the winter is bad and the elk starving people just say "sorry for your bad luck" TYPICAL
