It does seem to be trend starting here. Two oficer related incidents in a year, That is a lot. I feel that people are putting these two officers in the same boat when they discuss them.
It is a shame this officer took money that wasn't his, I am not sure how to judge this guy because I don't think we got the whole story. Why did he take it? Was there an emergency situation that caused him to panic and make a bad decision? Or was greed involved?
I doubt we will ever know. So with that said, I am witholding my judgement until later.
The story said restitution had already been made to the victim. Did he make restitution on his own or did he get caught with his hand in the cookie jar?
Even as bad as this sounds it's still only a misdemenor offence. The DA's office has rules regarding sentencing. To all of you that say he got off too easy, He only got what could be given to him. Nothing more.
The case involving Ken Johnson is nothing even close to this. Unfortunately for the PD. its going to take a long time to shake off the stink from this case. The whole town will be watching every thing that happens down there holding there breath waiting for the next “big thing” to go down.
    Talk about working under pressure.

OK, This Guy needs to look at a bigger picture. Jeff here thinks that a glass of wine is going to cause your child to have a tramatic injury. Get real. I grew up in the 80's, right here in Craig. I can tell you I have had my share of alcohol as a minor. Rest assured, my parents didn't know what was happening or at least I don't think so. I am doing just fine. Still have all my fingers and toes.
I have traveled to many countries where wine is served with dinner, even to the children. There crime rates aren't any worse than here. I have been to bars in Germany where 16 yr old minors were allowed to drink until 9:00 pm. Looks like they are doing fine also.
Do I feel that if a parent lets there kids get blind drunk and let them run around town acting all crazy that they shouldn't be punished? Yea, I feel they should.
My opinion is, The City Council here feel that we ,as parents, are unable to care for our own children . In reality its because they don't have any real answers to the problem of teenage drinking. Punishing the liquor stores and establishments that sell to the minor isn't working. Even though there has been several sting operations in town that busted many sellers, But the sellers say the're sorry and get there liquor license back with no penalty phase to speak of. So now, Its the parents who get to pay for their kids actions.
I can say this in all honesty, because I was a kid once , If I wanted alcohol as a kid I could always find it. My parents had no idea what I had up my sleeve. And I never once concidered what would happen if I got caught. Think back to the time you had your first drink. Wasn't it an uncle or dad who asked you to try a sip of some drink they had in their hand?
And one more comment. Having two teenage boys and a couple more teenagers coming up soon, I know from experience that telling a kid a hundred times is not going to stop them from trying something. I think it actually encourages there couriosity and then they want to know what the big deal is. Its like telling someone,” if you leave your hand in the door jam when you close the door , its going to hurt ” . That is sometimes not enough for them to get it. Let them shut the door on their hand once, they will remember for the rest of their lives.

This is an outstanding Idea. I remember about 10 yrs ago there was a big push to recycle in Craig. It went off pretty good I would say ,except the cost of delivering the recycled items to the proper facilities was enough to send some people back to the drawing board and rethink the whole idea. Then the next problem was the recycle facilites that were supposed to handle all our recycled goods couldn't process the material fast enough and there was grid lock in the system. Leaving huge pile of aluminum cans and glass and card board at this facility in Craig.
After looking into the matter a little further, I found that only a certain percentage of glass and paper can be recycled into new products , I think around 14% if my memory serves me correctly , so there's the problem. We can generate more trash than can be recycled .
I will stand behind Allen in his decision to push our senators into finding a solution to these problems of recycling and unemployment. After all he is the only person I have read so far putting any ideas on the table.

I agree with Joanne. I remember when I used to walk into a certain grocery store and the manager was just as happy to meet you as if you were a long lost friend. These days I am left feeling like I interupting something much to important for him to be bothered by a simple customer.
I hope they realize what come around goes around and if the want to be impersonnal then they should expect the same treatment back.

While the Deer aren't usually aggressive, lets not forget that the rut is coming soon and the bucks won't hesitate to challenge a dog walking person if they are between him and his does. A Buck that feels cornered is definately a dangerous situation and should be given his space. The Does arent as much a concern but the hooves can still leave quite a cut if you get hit by them. The best bet is, remember they are wild and don't think they won't defend themselves if they think it is necessary, and don't try to hand feed them.

Well Phyllis, How many times have you seen handicap people leave their carts in the empty parking space next to their car? I've seen it plenty. So dont make it sound like it's only our fault the carts are in the way. It is true that the carts need to be put away to avoid damaging other cars in the parking lot, especially on windy days. So on that note, I agree with you.

I have seen this so many times it's unbelievable. Everybody is in such a hurry to get out into traffic they forget about people walking down the sidewalk. The intersection of Yampa Ave, and Victory way in Craig is especially dangerous. Not only is there a building blocking the view to the right, kids think the sidewalk is a bike lane there and dont even stop half the time. Just keep in mind that vehicular manslaughter carries a hefty penalty, accident or not.
