News this week showed snowpack in the Yampa River basin has reached 94 percent of median for the date. Do you think Moffat County is out of the woods as far as drought concerns?

I'm very glad to see that Don is running. He has been a huge asset to our community and his experience and insight can be really important at this point; particularly in dealing with the County Commissioners on the Public Safety Center issue. Run Don Run!!!!

I supported the previous mill levy vote ONLY because I wanted to see our firefighters have good equipment. Not only for them but for us; the taxpayers. I was told that in NO WAY would the district be coming back for another fire training facility. Now they are and we should put a quick and decisive end to this now. Read very carefully and you will see that they are also “conceptualizing” a living quarters which tells me we are back to the idea of a FULL time fire department again, which they also said they would abandon. I trust our firefighters but do not trust the board and the commanders. Stop the craziness before it gets out of hand! PLEASE

All of these comments seem to be spot on. So here's an idea: If the commissioners DONT knock this off and get the deal done, let's do what voters and taxpayers do when their elected officials don't listen to them: Start a recall petition and get the morons out of there!!!

The Moffat County Commissioners just continue to show their collective ignorance in this matter! When it comes to understanding and appreciating the needs of this community, and in this issue the needs of the law enforcement community, the commissioners are totally inept. With no appreciation for the struggles it took to get the Public Safety Center on the ballot and built, the two fools and their queen are about to throw destroy one of the best law enforcement facilities in Colorado, if not the US over senseless issues. One has to wonder what Marianna Raftopolous, Jeff Corriveau and the rest of the dedicated people who worked so hard on this might have to say. Probably “shame on you County Commissioners” for being so damn short sighted and selfish!!!!

Sorry Neal, but you said: “More pay typically translates into better teachers”. My point is this: pay GOOD teachers as much as you possibly can; get rid of tenure so the BAD teachers will be gone. Empower administrators to DEMAND excellence or they will be gone. And finally, this community needs to find a way to encourage regular citizens to seek school board positions so the board is not overwhelmed with past teachers with their pre-disposed mind set about education.

Harkner: If you think that more pay equates to better teachers you are living in a labor union fed dream state! Tell me if you think that Ward Churchill, making well over 100K per year, was the best educator we could have had at the University of Colorado. It's the quality of the individual, not the amount of compensation that drives good education. Do away with tenure; make teacher evaluations public; institute performance pay and DEMAND excellence. That's what will make the difference.
