Won't it be interesting, to say the least, who might put in for the job? I'm betting we will have heard some of them. Might even have to attend the "vetting".

Lonely: Check the Illinois Senate record. EVERY chance he had to vote to restrict gun ownership, he voted to do so. EVERY time. He has said many times that, while he supports the 2nd Amendment, he FAVORS local control of guns. Nice way of saying we'll just let the local governments take guns away, no matter what the Constituion says. As a US Senator he has voted repeatedly to ban offshore drilling and to make it more difficult to explore for oil and gas in the lower 48 states. As Joe Friday would say: "Just the facts, maam".

Gem: Why should we give you ANY credibility when you can't even spell the name of the man you voted for for president? Check the record: He is clearly against gun ownership, use of fossil fuels and clearly FOR more government and taxes. Very possibly it is you who just listened to the dribble and didn't do your homework.

I guess we'll see what your "honest and visionary man" looks like down the road. Was he really truthful about taxes; William Ayers and Jerimiah Wright and his support for the 2nd Amendment? Was Obama truthful when he said he would set down, "with no preconditions" with the same people who have professed their hatred for this country? Respect has to be earned. John McCain earned my respect by serving this country honorably and with dignity. George Bush earned my respect by keeping this country, and each and every one of us, free from another terrorist attack. Barack Obama, (there, feel better now?) will get my respect if, and when, he EARNS it! By the way, please take historical note that John McCain went out of his way to be fair and honorable in the campaign. Even ordering his campaign and supporters to stop certain actions that he thought were wrong. Even through all of this you and I have found some common ground: I'm glad you left Moffat County too.

Typical for Ellen: whining and crying! All you have to do is check the vote totals from last week. Over 70% for McCain and less than 30% for Obama. This would lead me to believe that the vast majority of people in Moffat County, which is served by the Daily Press, couldn't give a rip if they ever see a picture of B. Hussein Obama again. It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with politics and philospies.

I am continually amazed at the gullability of the voting public. How can someone in a coal related industry even THINK about voting for Udall? Udall has spent his entire life railing against fossil fuels. Please remember this is the same guy who just recently spoke of shutting down exploration in the Vermillion Basin. He is just like Obama: Will do or say anything to get elected! Please, please see through this smokescreen and give John McCain your vote. He's the one who has pushed for more coal fired power plants; more nuclear plants and offshore drilling along with solar and wind. He's the one that really has Moffat County's best interests in mind!

I know one of the mail carriers and I was told that ALL the keys were identical. Get real folks; this was a set up deal to get to those folks that don't know the old saying; "when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is"! This is a bunch of fly-by-nighters who stuck folks with overpriced cars; outrageous interest rates and warranties that no dealer in Craig will honor! For those of you that might have fallen prey to this, take your paperwork to one of our LOCAL dealers and go over it with them. Find out what the real value of the vehicle is and how much overpriced the warranties are. You just might be mad enough to do something about this. And, not let it happen in Craig again!

Now that HUD has accepted the hospitals financials, and agreed to guarantee the loan, I'm just waiting to see what negative comment Stan will come up with. Look, here's the deal: Lots of really good people have worked their tails off for this project. It's going to happen and now the community should pull together to make this the very best hospital possible. If ANYONE has some constructive criticism or an idea they would like to see incoporated into the hospital, let the Board or someone know. Like Sarah Palin said last night, it's time to stop looking back and start looking forward. Whatdayathink, as the Governor would say.

As you said, we should make informed decisions about our next president. Having that in mind, I did a little research. Right now there are 5 MILLION more people working in our country than seven years ago! Not bad for an economy that was rocked by 9-11. And we have not been struck by terrorists since then with god-only-knows how many threats neutralized. I was wondering WHICH Bush doctrine you might be referring to? A quick check of Wikipedia lists seven Bush doctines from the concept of preemptive strikes agains our enemies, countries that harbor terrorists are themselves terrorists, the concept of using the "coalition of the willing" when the (worthless) UN won't act and the "Freedom Agenda" that of spreading democracy to the world. John McCain believes in these things and has demonstrated the courage to vote to support them while in Congress. When Obama has actually voted, not just "present" he has voted against them. Well, he was against the highly successful surge before he was for it. OMG sounds like John Kerry all over again. And he's against drilling, before he's for it. Obama "WANTS" to cut taxes but at the same time he wants to grow social and domestic programs. Where will the money come from? The middle class worker, that's where. And lastly let's consider which one of the candidates is best suited to keep America safe and appoint judges that will not legislate from the bench.

You see Briana, we have become educated and we're for John McCain!

This whole mess could have been avoided if Mr. Culverwell would have taken some of the tens of thousands of dollars he was paid for hunting on his land and simply built a stackyard. That would have been a much more appropriate "protection of his private property". Old Sage: who should be more responsible for taking care of private property rights? The government (DOW) or the individual? I think I've heard you say a number of times that less government is better. Why the change of heart?
