I support the Moffat County Education Association's call to reject ballot amendments 47, 49, and 54. All three are aimed at working people, and all three would further upset the balance between employers and employees.
But i would add one additional argument against these dangerous measures. They are all intended to permanently change the state constitution in a way that cannot be easily remedied. If measures like these were to blow up the state's economy, the state legislature would have a difficult time fixing things because these amendments apply to the highest law in the state.
Colorado voters must consider these measures very carefully, and hopefully, forcefully reject them.

“The last board previously endorsed Amendment 47, which still stands.”
This is the one issue that i really wish the Craig Daily Press would revisit. Amendment 47 is aimed directly at working people. We already carry enough of the load, and this takes away our collective voice.

“There are 22 right-to-work states already, and studies consistently show that right-to-work states perform better economically than non-right-to-work states. That means more jobs, higher-paying jobs and a better economic environment for the entire state.”
This is a pretty brazen lie. Unions negotiate for higher-paying jobs. “Work For Less” states have lower-paying jobs, because the unions have been damaged or driven out. That may translate into higher profits for investors and some business leaders, but it means impoverishment and no voice in wages, hours, or working conditions for working people.

I'm with griner53 on Amendment 47. In addition to being bad for Colorado — particularly for Colorado's working people — it is dishonest. Channel Nine News fact-checked one of the Amendment 47 political ads, and declared it not just misleading, but FALSE. Here is that excerpt:
“QUOTE: All it does, it gives workers the right to choose for themselves whether or not they want to join a union (Graphic: 'Amendment 47 is about the freedom to choose')
“TRUTH: This is false.”

Not only that, but the backers of Amendment 47 violated campaign finance laws:

Readers should check out these amendments for themselves. Here are links to two opposition websites:
