I believe the vote Jerry was talking about refers to the city of Chicago, not the state of Illinois.
Chicago has had - and will continue to have - a ban on handguns.

As you can see, that ban is completely ineffective.

Obama voted to tighten controls on gun ownership in Chicago, not remove them from your hands in Montrose.

I own four guns (one handgun) and am not worried about either candidate taking them.

It is important to have guns ... as long as they are in the hands of the right people.

I know Mark Twain - his name was Samuel Longhorn Clemons.
Chris Currie is no Mark Twain.

Twain was a brilliant man who made observations of everyday life.
He didn't feel compelled to write columns about the same child week in and week out.

Terry Redlin is an artist, as was Norman Rockwell.
    They didn't write.

Imagine, though, had Norman Rockwell painted the same person over and over, just doing different things?

Nothing else. Just the same kid, doing different things.

They sell those paintings, but they are usually on the street corner and set up outside of a van.

In the words of my hero, Mark Twain .. "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

    Peace

Claudia, Claudia, Claudia ... where to start?

Just like John McCain claims to not be another W., Obama is not Bill Clinton.
But I would take Clinton over Bush any day.

Michelle never said the souls of Americans are sick.
    That's a lie.

Our defense budget is insane, and the government has a "use it or lose it" attitude to the money they receive. Ask my buddy in Abu Dabi about how many jet skis and boats they bought with the $500k they received.

Defense money should be allocated to intelligence. Drones and unmanned bombers can save countless American lives.

This is 2008 and we need to prepare for the future instead of relying on the past.

Farrakhan is entitled to his opinion - even if it is of a Christian presidential candidate.

Even if Obama was a Muslim ... so what?

This is America, and it was founded on freedom from persecution of religion.
    Not Christianity.

If you don't agree with that basic American value, perhaps you are more like Farrakhan than you realize.

    Granny,
You sound like a bitter old lady.
Do you always lash out at others when things don't go your way?

And yes, it looks like I won.
This is America and I am entitled to my opinion.
I know in your household, you think whatever you say goes, but it's time for you to wake up.

Heed you own advice, you hypocrite.
If you don't like what I write, don't read it.

That's your advice, but then you attack when you don't like what you read.

And there is a difference between "hateful" and the truth.

    Christina Currie is a hack.
    Plain and simple.
    That's the truth.
Name one other paper that would publish lame columns that focus on the life of an 8-year-old.

It sounds as if living through your children is a family tradition with the Mathers' clan.

So quit calling me a snake or a hateful person.
Maybe YOU should have taken the extra steps to educate her better before she put her half-cocked views before the public.

But then you couldn't lash out at me could you?

See granny, you are a mad, angry, defensive person who is unable to accept criticism.
Do you ever blame yourself for the erratic behavior of your children or is it always someone else's fault?

    Granny, I am a winner.
    You are a loser.

Now, I will go take another hit of the Maui.

Good luck with those authoritative, dominatrix ways that have proven so effective.

    Just remember ... I won.
