I have a small problem with the Dixie Chicks reference. I'm tired of people blaming others for their problems. people! There are consequences to your actions…good or bad. “The world will never know what was not created”, NOT because of the boycott of the Dixie Chicks, but rather because of the actions that led to the boycott of the Dixie Chicks. The First Amendment may give them the right to say what they want, but it also gives us the right to disagree. The boycott says “we disagree”. My dad used to have a lot of quirky sayings, but the one that stick with me the most is “If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.”

What's disturbing is that people actually think this election “overcame racial barriers”. Racial divisions were never more evident than November 4th. Just ask the millions that “voted their color”.

Well put Karina. A little pre-election story. My mother lives in California. She voted early, and was talking with a co-worker, who had also voted early. Their conversation led to which presidential candidate each voted for. The co-worker, who is black, looked my mother straight in the eye and said very seriously, “I voted my color”. Did she know anything about the issues, or what Obama stood for? I don't know. But if so, that's the kind of ignorance that will destroy this country. I also did not vote for Obama, but because of his positions. I worry about the future of this town now that he is in office. Anyone who believes Obama is not against guns or coal fired plants (yes this includes you gem) is naive. The simple truth is Obama is bad for rural areas. I'll be moving to a larger city next year, and I believe it will be just in time.

There have been investigations into this by the media, and they've always hit road blocks. Corporate offices have gotten good at giving the run-around. The most common (not to mention laughable) answer usually given is “the cost is justified by the distance the trucks have to drive to deliver it.” But when gas is consistently 10 cents a gallon less in Hayden, and up to 30 cents a gallon less in Steamboat, one has to wonder if they're burning rocket fuel between here and there. It's frustrating when WE know the wool's being pulled over our eyes, they know we know, and yet we're powerless to do anything about it. Good luck Ken. I hope you get a believable answer.

Kind of gives a little creedence to the rumor regarding Bonnie using her connections with Ritter to pressure the State Patrol, doesn't it?

Native,
In answer to who brought up the “KKK” and “Holocaust” references, I mentioned this in one of my postings. But it was a long posting, so I'll say it again for those interested. the references were made in the latest posting by “dasupport”. If you look for the first posting on this page from “dasupport”, you'll notice it's signed:
Respectfully,
Joe DeAngelo
DA Investigator
That's right, Bonnie's own investigator. I find it ironic he would sign any letter “respectfully”, when his lack of respect is clear; not just in his words, but in his treatment of the Oberwitte/Bailey family.

I have just been told the recall election would cost Routt county approximately $20,000. That brings the total to UNDER $60,000. By the way, in reference to the Steamboat Pilot's “misguided” opinion, I don't remember having a choice in the election. Bonnie ran unopposed, meaning it didn't matter how many votes she got. She was the default winner. I also heard something that has me a little suspicious. According to some VERY reliable sources, a couple claiming to have just moved from Denver showed up at a petitioners house wanting to sign. When told they would not be able to, because they are not registered to vote in the district, they finally left. The car and its license plate were noted, and I'll be darned, but that car showed up minutes later in front of Bonnie's house. And it stayed for a while…visiting? Sounds a little suspicious to me. Are we seeing some unethical, underhanded attempts to sabotage the petition? Beats me. But like I said, a little suspicious.

Part3
P.S.
I have just been informed the Routt County cost of a recall election is not yet verified information. I apoligize for jumping the gun on that one. When I find out what the verified number is, I'll post it.
By the way, I hate to post things that are just rumors, but I guess when in Rome…
We all saw the letter from the Colorado State Patrol's top man regarding his support of Bonnie. It's interesting to me that he would go against his fellow troopers in announcing that support, but this may shed a little light on it. Many may not know this, but Bonnie (a Republican) has also made enemies in the political community. Despite being appointed by a republican governor (Owens), she worked hard on the campaign for our current governor (Bill Ritter, a Democrat). Rumor has it she used her connection with Ritter to put pressure on the top brass at the State Patrol to write that letter. Is it true? I don't know, but it's what I heard.
