I agree highway 1340! You can go to other papers and sign up, but not pay to read their paper and yet the Press wants 35 dollars for a year!!
And even if I were willing to pay for it, my husband reads it online too so does that mean we both have to pay 35 bucks?? I don't think that's ever gonna happen in this life time!

Brian, I don't know this woman and personally I think her husband should have been sentenced for more time. BUT, it was him that was charged not her and she is doing what she thinks is right, standing by her man. I don't get it, but then I'd not stand by someone who has done these things to a child or anyone else.
I was just in a polite way trying to tell you, that you sir have become a jerk with your comments!! You can belittle her all you want, she doesn't get it and it makes you look like a moron!

Brian, your posts have become a bit harsh toward cmommy.
Like it or not, she is just someone who is foolishly standing by her man. No amount of belittling her is going to make her realize that what she is doing is just plain wrong. No amount of belittling her is going to make her understand the she should be giving all her energy to protecting her child from this man instead of saying there is more to the story than what the paper printed and that he has been wronged.

dd1027, I think last night, when this was first reported in the paper, there was mention of the truck drivers who were hauling water. Not sure where that might be mentioned now tho.
I think everyone involved in this team effort to put the fire out deserve a huge thank you from a lot of people.
sc428, I think we should leave the politics out of this for now and just say thank you to those who worked so hard!

I keep wondering if Gene is so disappointed over the way this training tower has turned out, why hasn't the collage offered land over by the collage…..away from the hospital?
I seem to remember reading something about the collage maybe offering some kind of fire science classes or some such thing since the tower was going to be built by the hospital, so why not offer them land next to the campus and away from other possible places that the community will complain about?

you sound a little testy cmommy? are you part of the family being protected?
I understand why his name isn't being used in the paper, but really, it is only natural for people to wonder who it is. I also understand how hard this must be for his family to deal with. It's not going to be an easy time for them at all in the next few months or even years. I hope they are strong enough to handle it.

I thought this move had nothing to do with problems between the VFW and the City over the park. I thought I read in the paper when all this started being a problem between the two, that Whittle The Woods was being moved because it had simply out grown the park?? Now you are saying different?

good for you Pete. I think many of us feel the same way. It's not the center itself, it's the location.

Ok, so they will provide the patch and gum to employees. But what about the patient who smokes. What are they going to do for them. No smoking on hospital grounds means very unhappy and cranky patients and sometimes forcing them to go cold turkey can cause health problems.
Yes, laugh if you want to, but I know a couple people who decided to quit and going cold turkey caused them to have other problems.
Now I realize we all need to get healthier, myself included. But if I were still a smoker and couldn't smoke up there, in an area reserved for smokers, I'd look at going to a different hospital.
