I agree with DavidMoore. Drop the fee for the online paper. I hardly ever read the paper anymore. Seems as tho the only one I do pay for is the Wed. paper so I can get the ads without running to both grocery stores to get their ads.
I too, will be waiting to see what you come up with.

Thank you to the Craig Fire Dept. for last nights fireworks. We always enjoy them during the summer, but found last night to be kind of a treat! It was a bit chilly to be standing out watching them, but we still enjoyed them.
Thanks for honoring our Veterans this way.

I thought I wouldn't add anymore to this topic, but I have to say that I've been thinking of this and am wondering how long the paper has been free, online? Probably more than 5 years and now suddenly it becomes something of great value and we must pay for it?
What took you guys so long to decide it held so much value?
And I'm still pretty sure I'm not gonna pay for it.

Bryce, I was just looking at my hotmail account and there is an offer from the Explore Craig Deals or some thing like that. It has an offer to get the Craig Daily Press. Get 6 months for the price of 3. Do you seriously charge $43.50 for six months of the paper? That's 87 buck a year!!
Seems like a lot of money to me. We use to pay 5 dollars a month for an every day paper. I know 7.25 isn't a great deal more and times have changed and the price of everything has increased, but WOW!!
I guess I am just shocked cuz it's been so long since I've boughten a paper by the month.

Bryce, it is the 11th of July and I've not been able to look at a darn thing. I click on them, but get your notice about buying the online subscription. Last night a notice showed up on my facebook page about the fires out by Maybe and amazingly I could look at that, but before last night I couldn't even see that stuff.
And I don't think you should compare us to Grand Junction. They are way bigger and probably have more than one news paper in town. And since you are the only one here in Craig and have decided to charge for something that use to be free, I'll continue to say you have the only game in town and have become greedy. I do not totaly direct that comment at you, Bryce. You are a nice guy and I've always liked you, but someone at that paper saw dollar signs when they thought of this and it was a bad choice.

This is from the papers “All Access FQA

Will there be any free content on the Craig Daily Press site?

Yes. We take our responsibility as the local information source seriously and believe some content is of urgent public concern and should be free to all. There will be some free categories, and visitors to www.CraigDailyPress.com will have 10 free views of premium content every 30 days. After that, All Access will be available only if you pay for it. All non-premium content will remain free. Non-premium content categories include national and international news, classifieds, calendars, weather, games, and puzzles.

    What content is “premium”?

The All Access subscription will provide access to local news including birth announcements, obituaries, editorials, local news stories and profiles.

As I said there isn't much you can look at, thanks to the greed of the owners and or just those that run the local paper????

I agree with DavidMoore and bulldog2800. It seems to me that greed has grabbed ahold of the Craig Daily Press.
Where would our small town be if the Chamber or the new Visitor Center started charging to look at their websites. We'd probably be hurt a lot by the loss of tourism.
I too hate the pop-up ads, but wonder why if you are charging businesses to place ads, why are you charging us to look at the darn paper.
OH and what happened to the info on the All Access FQA, that said you could look at 10 items every 60 days altho I recieved an email from someone at the paper that said it was 10 items every 30 days, cuz I can't look at a thing. Not pictures, not obits or on the record stuff. I bet I can't even look at those darn ads you've got on there so a fat lot of good they do the businesses that pay to have them on there!! Whew, that was a mouth full, but I had to get it all out before you start charging to post too.

I agree highway 1340! You can go to other papers and sign up, but not pay to read their paper and yet the Press wants 35 dollars for a year!!
And even if I were willing to pay for it, my husband reads it online too so does that mean we both have to pay 35 bucks?? I don't think that's ever gonna happen in this life time!

Brian, I don't know this woman and personally I think her husband should have been sentenced for more time. BUT, it was him that was charged not her and she is doing what she thinks is right, standing by her man. I don't get it, but then I'd not stand by someone who has done these things to a child or anyone else.
I was just in a polite way trying to tell you, that you sir have become a jerk with your comments!! You can belittle her all you want, she doesn't get it and it makes you look like a moron!

Brian, your posts have become a bit harsh toward cmommy.
Like it or not, she is just someone who is foolishly standing by her man. No amount of belittling her is going to make her realize that what she is doing is just plain wrong. No amount of belittling her is going to make her understand the she should be giving all her energy to protecting her child from this man instead of saying there is more to the story than what the paper printed and that he has been wronged.
