If you want lower oil prices, you can get them in Novmember. Vote out this current congress and get representatives in there that care about you and the economy. Its not just the democrats preventing exploration and drilling on our soil and off our coasts. The spineless republicans having been wrapping themselves in this incredible insane "global warming" scam (note: we are going into summer, so we can call it global warming again) and walking in step with democrats (original meaning of the word "democrat" is "to pander to the masses"). We have the technology and the oil. Lets get it ourselves before other countries start directional drilling it out from under us, i.e. China and Cuba.

Unfortunately, we can't do anything with the environmentalists driving all this, but we can get rational thinking representatives in office that will, and must, take a stand against them and let this country go forward. The utopian world of transportation vehicles running on air and emitting only water is so far from realty our children's children won't be seeing it.

Should we continue to explore "clean" technologies? YES, but let the free market do it. The government tried to get involved with ethanol subsidies and failed miserably, raising the price of all food commodities around the world. Private industry, without that subsidy, would have dropped that experiment long ago.

If your candidate repeats the old mantra of "NO new drilling" and "NO new refineries", then you need to seek out another candidate. Its your wallet.

I think its just fine to print the names of those arrested. The fact of being arrested does not constitute guilt, that is for the courts to decide. The presumption of innocence until proven guilty is only a responsibility of the government. The press and the people can assume or conclude anything they want about a certain person's actions, regardless of the outcome of a trail. Knowing the names of those recently arrested could help in hiring or other business/personal decisions. Remember, to make an arrest, the officer or department must have probable cause, but even if that "evidence" is incorrect, it is usually a mistake that is made by the arrested person's association with a guilty party.

First, there are no rights in the US Constitution giving the public the right to vote in FEDERAL elections.

Second, not everyone should be allowed to vote, whether in a local election or any other election. A huge majority of the voters of this country never read the issue, learn what the position of candidates are or in many cases even know who or what the candidates/issues are until they're sitting there with pen in hand. The worst voters out there tow their party line. Those willing to vote a straight ticket for one party or another, regardless of the consequences of those votes, should never be allowed to vote.

Voting rights should be limited to those that fund the particular government or ballot issue. If it is a ballot issue that will raise property taxes in a district or town/city, then property owners should be the only people voting on it. National elections should be decided by the 50% of wage earners that pay federal income tax, not the other 50% who receive ever increasing welfare.

We are quickly become a socialist society with too much power (one person-one vote) being given to those who receive the benefits of others' hard work (income tax payers). Socialism does not work, unless you think 50% income taxes, 14% unemployment and 6 month waits for MRI scans is "working".

Yes, the election process must change, but for the better, not by merely getting more uneducted (in the issues/candidates), party towing voters to the booth.

Absolutely amazing. Lets completely resolve all responsibility to these families. Its great they live in a community that will replace their poor life planning. A comminuty that will step up and give them the things they should be going out and buying new from their insurance money. I've been in much worse financial situations then those in that building, and always, always carried renters, homeowners, auto, life and health insurance. The sacrifices we made to be able to do that were great. The money can be found to purchase these necessities, it depends on what their priorities are. Obviously, their priorities lay elsewhere. I bet they don't get renters insurance in the future either.

Other than helping to find housing (which the private market took care of quickly), the Red Cross should never be needed in an apartment complex fire. These tenants should all be calling their insurance providers to get the cash necessary to replace their belongings. But let me guess, none of them could afford renters insurance although it only costs about $200 per year. Living is a responsibility, especially when you have children. Look at the position they're in now becuase of their lack of concern for their own well being and safety. I bet all these people had really nice TV's and cell phones though.
