Yes it was warm but for years the DOW has been actively trying to reduce the numbers of elk and they have succeded. Maby when the hunters stop coming to Craig the business people and city leaders will cry for them to stop the late season cow slaughters and practically unlimited tags so that the herd can recover. The hunters also need to adapt their tactics to deal with the changing elk habits. Don't hunt 11 and 211 because the elk aren't there. Spend more time in 23 and 24 with the higher elevations and dark timber.

rhammel admits that he doens't hunt but then comments on how others hunt. How do you know how they hunt if you don't do it? I was fortunate enough to fill my elk tags but I saw no other elk in any camps and very few deer. Maby the city and business leaders will cry for more elk when no one comes to Craig because let's be honest, that's the only tourism industry there.
