So you are saying that the only solution to the failed policies and practices of the educational system we have in place today is to feed the beast more money and all will be well? I believe every child deserves better than the utter garbage that passes for public education today. I refuse to just throw more money at the problem just so I can sleep better at night and say that I at least did something even though it accomplished absolutely nothing. I would be more than willing to give you your money under one condition. When test scores do not improve we sit down and address the real problem and fix it.

Sure extra money will be a benefit to the schools but nothing will change until the real problems are addressed. The educational system will gladly take all of your money if you give it to them. By now we have all seen without a doubt that just throwing more money at things does not solve the problem. There are many examples at the national level but locally we can point to the hospital which spent millions on a new building but still faces the same challenges it did at the old location. And we have the local school system, new middle school but stagnant or falling test scores. How many more monuments to ourselves do we need to build before this sinks in?

I would not have said that I would not enforce the new laws but simply said they are very poorly thought out and written. (like obammycare) I am curious how many gun crimes are committed by first time offenders with no record who would pass the background check. And how many gun crimes are committed by felons who did not obtain a gun by legal means. I guess this whole criminals dont play by the rules thing just keeps buggin me!

See democrats are capable of creating high paying jobs after all. When they ban those specific guns and high capacity clips, savvy business people will step forward and bring those guns and clips into the state and sell them to who ever wants them albeit at a higher price. They wont be any harder to buy than drugs are today. One of the police chiefs even alluded to this fact in an article in todays paper.

Lets be honest, the citizens of this country have not enjoyed true freedom for a long time. And the list of things that government says we need or must have grows every day. It matters not if it is a Democratic administration or a Republican administration. Both parties love to strip away freedom and spend money. The difference is where the money is spent. Democrats spend money on social programs and Republicans give money to other countries, military complex, expensive wars poorly thought out and new departments like Homeland Security.

I have no problem with conservation but as a long term answer it will not work. Booming populations and economies in the far east are using energy at an ever increasing annual rate that boggles the mind. If nothing is done to increase the supply of fuel to at least keep pace with the increasing demand from China and India the price of gas will go up substantially. We are consuming fuel daily at a rate not seen since the early 90 s. and despite that oil is at 100 dollars a barrel. Can you imagine what the price will be if the economy ever turns around? I would not worry too much about the f550s. We will all be on scooters soon enough.

I agree about our overzealous government needing to step aside. We do need to develop our oil producing capabilities. I see the price of oil going nowhere but up because of increasing demand on the world stage,China,India most notably. If we produce our own oil I dont think we can lower the price for reasons previously stated, but I think we can protect ourselves from wild and temporary fluctuations caused by natural and political events. But I do like the idea of using their oil up first if at all possible.

I dont have a problem with getting more of our oil from closer to home. It would create more jobs. But if your goal is to reduce the price of oil then that will not work. One reason is most opec countries oil companies are nationalized. The governments of these countries have their budgets based on 80-90 dollar per barrel of oil. They heavily subsidize their people with oil money. If you drill more domestically and should the price drop, opec will cut production to get the price back up. They have done this in the past. Remember when Bush was president and every time gas would spike he would fly to Saudi and kiss Arab butt to get them to raise production? They also cut production a number of times in 2008-2009 to raise the price after consumption crashed.Currently the price of oil has nothing to do with costs and hasnt for a while now. Its the latest way for speculators to make a buck The previous poster was right. Demand is so low we are exporting fuel to other countries..

I wish it were as simple as just voting out the democrats but I know how much debt we ran up with the goof who was in office before him. From the first year we had a deficit until today the debt has done one thing,go up. It does not matter what party the president is from you can count on one thing. Higher deficits. I hope I am wrong but I think we are past the point of no return with the debt. Sooner or later this thing will collapse. We must get past this idea that when we elect republicans that the debt starts to go down because history shows it does not. The only time republicans are interested in the budget is if a democrat is president. This is all the same stuff they said when Clinton was president. When their guy gets elected its business as usual. Though in fairness I will say that the democrats never care about the budget .
