Way to go Trish. Nice to see a school board member out there making us proud of our school with daily tastless commentary and behavior. Maybe next year we can have team condom tossing at the homecoming day parade. The winners get to sit in the "special section" at the game with you. Will you supply the pop?

Good stuff taxslave. The government buying all the debt so we can start all over again is not the answer. For the last 25-30 years we have created an economy that requires us to spend more than we make to keep things going. Well, the credit ran out in the late 90;s so we started the housing bubble that bought us another ten years of irresponsability. When that horse ran out of steam everybody jumped on the commodity bandwagon and that finished the economy off. Bottom line is even if the government dumps money into the banks, with tighter lending standards fewer people will be able to qualify for loans (not a bad thing, everybody qualifying, thats what caused this mess). Still waiting for them to address the real problem.

I wonder if the editorial board is against a rec center because it would be redundant.

This bill if passed will do nothing but float the banks. The three major forces that drove the economy for the last ten years have been shattered . The three were cheap gas, easy to get credit at historical low rates and lastly homes that apreciated at 20 to 25% a year and more. This bill will not restore home values much less bring back the good old bubble days of 20 to 25% apreciation. This bill will help the banks but if they tighten standards on loan applicatons(as they should) then fewer people can get loans which also will not bring back those good old irresponsible, care free days. And lastly ,this bill does absolutely nothing about the other side of the problem. The one thing thats removing money from peoples pockets as fast as the housing correction. The price of fuel. The price of fuel effects the price of absolutely everything. If we are to ever be serious about reviving the economy and putting money back in peoples pockets this side of the two headed monster cannot be ignored. Remember folks, the last time oil was $90 a barrel gas was $3.09 a gallon. Last I checked $3.92 wasent even close. Whose pocket is being filled now. In the ninties we had a technology bubble, followed by the real estate bubble. Do I smell a commodity bubble? One thing is certain,no matter what the economic climate sombody always finds a way to make money. Which is good, its the American way but in this case its at the expense of our economy.

Another sad commentary on what passes for local medicine. Unless its life threatening I would suggest a trip to Steamboat Springs. They have a good track record and reputation. But dont worry folks, the new building will solve all this .

People with morals should be offended at being branded homophobic. The folks of Soddom and Gamorah were some of the most accepting ,tolerant and "mannered" if you will toward behavior outside of the accepted norm. If you know your history you would know this is not a step foreward but a huge step back.

we can open up the gulf, the shores off of both coasts and Alaska to pump oil and it wont bring prices down ,at least not enough to make a difference. If OPEC will not pump more oil now to bring prices down you can be assured as soon as we start producing oil in any quantities they will cut their production to keep the price of oil at a level they deem acceptable. oil is traded globally and if and when we decide to "flood" the market with all our oil to bring the price down OPEC will cut production and China and India will swoop in and buy our oil thereby sustaining prices. The real problem is twofold. we have rising demand from developing countries and flat or even falling oil production from major oil producing countries because they are not privately owned. They are government run and in many cases the profits are used to subsidize programs in those countries and not into oil exploration or expanding or improving production. The other major reason for the jump in oil prices is oil speculation. Now that the real estate cash cow has been exhausted, wall street is pouring its money in the only sure thing. Until the next new thing comes along to drive the economy investors and invetment companies are pouring money into the commodities market to make money and also for security in uncertain times. The only way producing our own oil will bring down prices would be to adopt a protectionist policy. In other words dont sell our oil outside of the USA. I dont belive our leaders from either side of the asile will have this kind of backbone.

Why would locals not have to contribute toward a train they would use? Were you just joking?I think using all the ideas suggested here is a good way to fund rail service.A combination of grants, ski lift pass taxes and maybe an airline ticket surcharge to get some year round funding.Having said all that I have to agree with Silverspoon that a much more viable and sustainable place for rail would be the I70 corridor. Not that I wouldent like to see rail in our valley but we just dont have the population base to support or justify the dollars that project would require.I totally agree with bloggyblogg that we need to be farsighted with our energy policy.Getting off our oil dependency should be our priority. Its been a long time sinse our government made desisions based on what was best for our country, both stategically and economically.

Wine and new potatos...sounds tasty! Of course I sold my mobile home with the LOT. The reason I gave you the CLOSING DATE ON THE SALE is because it is PUBLIC RECORD and you can look it up. There are new mobile homes constructed today that can go for $150,000 and beyond. They are called UBC constructed homes and there is no limit to what they can cost. It all depends on how big and fancy you want to go. Glad to educate you again, native. If you learn nothing else...remember, a crow diet is healthier than subway (but don't tell Jared).
