I think the city missed a perfect chance for a cheap rec center alternative when they did not help fund the middle school gym addition. They would have had access to TWO full gyms, a cardio room, locker rooms. Meeting space would also have been there. I know now, that I will not vote for a rec center, if the city does not feel they can put up some surplus to pay for access to a nice facility, why should I pay taxes on something I will not use? My kids are active on their own, sports at the high school and summer activities. My wife and I walk every night and ride our bikes so we do not need this.

I agree with X. I pay State Parks on OHV fee for trails, mtn bikes also use these. Bikes can pay a fee that could help pay fees for signs etc.

The Aux gym was to the east of the cafeteria, down the hall. It was the wrestling room also. It was there until about 6 years ago when half of it was changed to a classroom. The 5/6 building lost its aux gym to be made into a computer room and a classroom about 3 yrs ago.

The middle school did have an auxiliary gym, half was turned into a classroom, the other half was a weight room. The new school has the main gym and a small half size auxiliary gym. The school was looking for a DOLA grant to help in building a new full size aux. gym. Not all of this DOLA money was received, so the school IS looking for ways to fund a FULL size gym for the kids and community that uses these gyms. The school did not put a full gym into the initial bond because they felt that alternate funding could be found for a gym and the bond money could be spent on classrooms. Bond money cannot be spent on hiring teachers or administrators,
