Cma, what does any of that have to do with hunting? You already can't sport more than six rounds to hunt and no hunters I know have ever taken issue with that. If you want to give in to political hyperbole and scare money away from your community over an issue that takes nothing from sportsmen, have at it. Just be honest about your motives in that you'd rather see economic harm borne of sour grapes than something that causes any real harm to you. Personally, I think Colorado's liquor laws are stupid and antiquated, yet I'd never tell someone to stay away from the state because of them. And, before you wax philosophical about this lack of governance by referendum, it was your fellow man who made weed legal. In other words, be careful what you wish for.

     Brent,

Thanks for your efforts. A suggestion I have is approaching KRAI for some sort of partnership in bringing breaking news to the public. One thing that drives me to check the various news sites I look at throughout the day is a steady stream of new information. Granted, there is only so much new information that a small community like Craig can generate, but I've always wondered why KRAI is able to produce more, especially when it comes to “breaking news” like highway shutdowns or weather alerts, than the CDP can. Whatever resources they have for this, it seems the CDP lacks them. On the other hand, the CDP does provide some in-depth reporting more suitable to the newspaper medium, but who says that KRAI couldn't take advantage of that as well?

Perhaps your website would have an increase in daily visits that would translate into better ad revenue that would better offset operating costs (and eliminate the paywall) if you could tap into whatever KRAI seems to bring to the table. I know I would check in much more often.

     cma,

I've been reading sentiments like yours my whole life. One odd thing I enjoy is to read old Life magazines, like from the 30s and 40s to get a sense of what life was really like without the color of hindsight. One common theme I see in letters to the editor from 60 to 70 years ago is that society was heading for hell in a handbasket back then, too. The more things change…

You take your wave pool, stick a large tent over it- BOOM, Rec Center! Seriously, we would get a big bang for the buck from something like what's in Meeker.

All excellent points, jennysr38. This community could support much more than it appears, just ask our neighboring communities.

Trust me, Jon, the notion that ANY firearm that you can own, legally or otherwise, would be protection from the resources that our government can bring to bear is pure fantasy.

Besides, I have never lived in anything resembling a city. Well, they call Craig a city, so I suppose that's close.

There has to be a better way of counting deer than making them run through the snow in front of a helicopter!”

Well, Mr. Willshire, what is it? Don't pose a complaint without a possible solution. 'sides… what data do you have that this activity causes undue mortality in these animals, or is this just an untested theory of yours?

I have lived in many places in my life, but I have NEVER been in a place where the well being of children as poorly regarded as it is here. I don't know what it is; the transient nature of portions of the workforce, the “just leave us be” cultural undercurrents, or what, but life in here in “the real west” is awfully hard on too many young ones. My children, coming from a normal, quiet, loving family seem to be an increasing rarity in this town. If Moffat County wants to represent what it's political leanings are meant to suggest, it had better get real serious about this issue real quick.
