I'm not surprised at all that Tony would step up to the plate on this. Honorable people do honorable things just as a matter of habit. Good for you, Tony. What a great example you set for all of us!

Awesome, Ethan! This is a great choice for this honor. He's a great kid raised by wonderful grandparents.

Just something to think about. Making a choice like this seldom has anything to do with making money. It's usually the lack thereof. Add to that the rude commentary about the girl's morality.—and the “good for you” boys get from the “manly-man” club for “gettin' some.” Add to that the harassment that comes when a girl gives her baby up for adoption. Add to that the lack of support—financial or emotional— after a baby is born. (The child will hopefully live to adulthood; that's eighteen years—seventeen years and six months beyond the support most “supportive” organizations contribute.) Add to that the number of kids who end up in foster care because their parents don't know how to or refuse to parent. There's more, but you wouldn't get it anyway—but maybe you'll get this. I prefer that legislation stay out of my body and yours. I don't choose for you; you don't get to choose for me.

I never understand the losses we must survive in this life. Russell was a gift, a truly kind soul. Jesse and Travis, and their families, will have my healing thoughts with them.

I have no birth children. I was a theraputic foster mom for seven years. (That means I had obnoxious amounts of training to help kids survive the abuse their parents assailed upon them.) I'm sick to death of right-to-lifers saying that they'll help. After the birth of the child, they disappear. “The system” will take care of them for the eighteen years that follow. When they step up to the plate, I'll change my vote. Until then, I'm pro-kid and my ballot will read “NO.”

The play was a fun romp through melodrama and political fun. The costumes added to the overall effect. I'm glad to see our local residents display their many and varied talents.

I wish we had a clue what was on the test, or even how they grade the test. CDE keeps that to themselves. If we taught the way the CDE tests, we shouldn't be teaching.

It is good for good things to happen to good people. It gives us all a good sense of direction.

I am proud to say I once was a teacher of these amazing students. As eighth graders they were honorable kids who worked harder than was required, and looked outside of the proverbial “box.” As we watch them grow into honorable adulthood, we need to remember that, even at this age, they have become so much more than what we hoped. They should be the people we point to with pride when we discuss the next generation. These are the people who will always make a difference in the way “a difference” was intended to be made. How lucky are we to have them in the world.
