Never has The Daily Press had a publisher so dedicated and involved in the community. Serving on multiple boards, deeply involved in the schools, knowledgable to the extreme, a genuine interest in Craig's betterment and courageous enough to print a column he completely disagreed with.
He published my column on TMH although we had a significant disagreement on what was happening there.
Bryce is a courageous man, an honorable man and a humble man. Those who accuse him of arrogance mistake earnest and determined effort for the best for self promotion.
Because he is straightforward man and committed to the best principles of jounalism, he has brought considerable grief on himself. Few will know of the punishment he endured when the paper angered some. His children have been harassed, even physically. He has recieved death threats, had his property damaged and endured more lies than about anyone I can bring to mind.
Those in positions of authority that feel the weight of the citizens ire should count their blessings. What they endure on occassion, Bryce endures daily.
I deeply regret only coming to know him in these last few years. Although I am old enough to be his father, I consider Bryce a mentor in many ways. I will always count him as a friend and I will miss him terribly.
Perfect? No. Committed to publishing a quality paper and giving blood, sweat and tears to the
improvement of his community?……….
anyone I can even recall in my 59 years.

So far I didn't get my way today.
As I consider all that is in the way
Of good government, honesty
and sense of fair play.
No. I did not get my way today.
I doubt that I'm greedy or even needy,
But I do not want my officials be seedy.
I ask they not lie or deceive, you see?
Just the simple requirement of integrity.
So if I seem a complainer, whiner or malcontent
It's only because our finances are spent
In ways not approved by the voters you see
Or in ways detrimental to our prosperity.
I have this strange notion,
a sense of devotion
to call aloud “foul”, for where would we be
if those in authority forget….
they serve We.

We have over1,800 children die each year as victims of abuse. Because death certificates often do not list abuse as cause of death , the number is feared to be well over 2,500. That is 1,000 times the number of children that died in that horrible event in Connecticut.
But this story has the “wow” factor.
So the politicians go where the cameras go and make promises and declarations and speak of how they will fix it. And brain dead morons believe the ones they are already predesposed to agree with.
This is a tragic broken world. Tragic broken people live here. Acts of horrific violence will and do happen. What makes them more tragic is knee jerk laws by knee jerk politicians smelling the oportunity to sell themselves to a knee jerk populace.
I'd ask where the politiician is for the exponentially greater number of children living the horror of an abusive home except for two issues. Number 1, abused children don't die all at once. It's not as politically sexy. Number 2, I am horrified at the thought of politicians attempting to bring remedy into our homes.

Hi there unbelievable6060,
I wrote nothing that was not 100% truth. And I was actually quite gentle. Maybe you're too close to the situation to see it. The activity of the administration and the inactivity of the board is nothing short dumbfounding. You will soon see. I'm sorry you are apalled. You will be no less so when what has happened in the dark is exposed to the light.

Hey, Just a word of encouragment ……. I used my name as my user name. I appreciate others asking, questioning or challenging my opinions. It helps me grow as a human being and keeps my words a litttle more toward the constructive. I dont understand why so many wish to remain anonymous.
