First and foremost, our government should look to itself and decrease the amount of revenues that it contributes to "overpopulation" (free medical, welfare, more babies equal more benefits, etc.) before they mandate that an employer provide contraception and/or abortion. As a Catholic Christian (yes, we ACTUALLY are Christian) I do not believe it is the government's place to set up me or anyone else for "responsible birth control measures." Personal responsibility should be just that - personal!
Howdy and Franny - I am so happy for the both of you that Dylan was able to be home for the holidays!!! Sorry we missed seeing him but what a blessing for both of you and Robyn! Truly brings a smile to my face :)
lonelyone - you are correct that an election was held in November. Unfortunately, no one ran on the ballot for Andrea Camp's district. Because of this, Andrea will hold her seat until December 30th and hopefully, we will have people who are interested in serving on the School Board step forward and write a letter of intent to the board. The board then reviews the letters, conducts interviews with each interested person and votes to appoint a member who will then take over Andrea's district.
I totally agree "netee". While the football season was not as successful as all hoped for, to single out an individual player with a negative comment is not only unnecessary, it is inappropriate. ALL students in a team sport play a part in losses as well as wins. It is NEVER an individual that can make or break a game and/or season! To quote an old but quite accurate saying "There is no "i" in team." Coaches, parents and staff, let's make a commitment to support ALL athletes who participate!
Good luck Chris. We are rooting for you!!!!
These young men truly were mentors to the incoming freshman and offered much needed support and guidance with a heavy dose of "heart". Good luck to all of you as you graduate in the spring and thank you.
If you want to see the same amount of heart, sportsmanship and comraderie, attend a MCHS girls' soccer in the spring!!
“It is strategic — it is how can we act as a local government to react to those issues facing our community now and those we anticipate that will come,” she said.
I am not too sure why the commissioners' meetings are held in the a.m. but would like to see that change. If the commissioners truly want to act as a local government, community input and invovlement is critical. The reason the commissioners are sitting in the position they are is due simply to their constituents. In order to achieve more community involvement and have input from community members regarding current and anticipated issues, I would like to suggest changing the meetings to the evening. If nothing else, try it for a month or two and see if it makes a difference in community attendance.
Just to avoid any confusion, I want to clarify the meeting is on Monday, March 28, not on March 26th as stated in the paper.
