Here's a question. In communities like Rifle, Rangely, Vernal, Pinedale, etc oil and gas companies have poured money in community development efforts in the forms of community centers, recreation centers, community colleges, etc.

Why aren't we asking Questar, Quicksilver, Shell, etc to pony up and help support this community? The mines and power plant have done this repeatedly, but I don't know of an instance where and oil and gas operator has stepped up in Moffat County and said “Hey, don't worry, we'll pay for it because we're a good neighbor and we want to help.”

Seems like this could be a solution in paying for repairs to the Luttrell Barn as well as other community development projects. The oil and gas companies get good PR and we finally get something from them as well.

So does Baumgardner live in Hot Sulphur Springs or does he live in Cowdrey?

My guess was around 800 or so, but I suppose it could have been more. I was just wondering if that was the estimate from the police or the campaign. I expect a campaign to inflate figures some, since that's their job.

However, I'm just basing it on what I've experienced at crowded concerts.

Nope, I was there. Didn't seem like there was anywhere near that many people crammed in the park.

Where is the 2000 people estimate coming from? Didn't look like there was anywhere near that many people there.

So why exactly are our tax dollars being spent to repair and re-pave 7 miles of County Road 4 east of Powderwash?

If memory serves, there is only one ranch in that area. Why isn't Questar or Wexpro paying to repair the roads they have damaged?

Seems if our tax dollars would be better spent benefiting the residents of the county, not corporations that just use the resources.

Kudos to the editorial board for standing up and taking this position.

“They could say we need an ambulance with a full-time staff in Maybell and Dinosaur and an extra one here in Craig,” Mathers said. “If they recommend it to us and we don’t do it and we have some major catastrophe, how do we deal with that?

So Tom and Tom are afraid of hearing information that may prevent a catastrophe? I don't understand it, They want to not hear info so they can cover their butts if a hypothetical scenario might occur? It makes no sense.
