Ok so they aren't coming to Craig because of a storm?? Give me a break, if some snow is going to scare a candidate from traveling then whats the point in trying to gain ground in rural communities. We live in the snow just fine, something is really wrong with city folk when the intire city shuts down for two inches of snow!!! Yeah she will be back next summer when the chance for snow is gone!!
you are correct blueyes it is a great thing that no one was hurt. It is sad that people have lost their homes but it is a reality that heaters are dangerous. From what it sounds like is this was a wall mounted base board heater. I have lived in places with these and know how dirty they can get. I wonder how long it had been since they had them inspected. It is also a bad time of the year for this to happen due to weather and hotels filling up with hunters. Hope everyone can find safe housing and a warm bed to stay in.
Opps yes i meant diamond. And by normal I mean the nationally recognized symbol for hazmat chemicals. If you have a problem with the symbol why don't you bring it up with Chief Johnson since he was the one that came up with the design years ago. If you are just now noticing this emblem you have really got to find something else to nit pick about or atleast be more observant about in the community.
If you would get out and acctually look at the emblem on the south side facing door, it is a skull with a fire fighter helmet and a two crossed axes directly behind the skull. The skull is in front of a hazmat symbol which is on many items containing chemicals. If you drive down industrial ave you will see many containers with the same basic hazmat symbol a triangle with a blue, red, yellow and white box. I am not sure where you get a demon from since that has been the emblem for the moffat county hazmat response team for years. That bay use to house the hazmat truck and trailor before they got the new ladder truck. It now houses one of the engines.
lonelyone you are correct it is for Hayden and NOT Craig. It seems to me that peole on the discussion board are yet again jumping at something to argue about instead of reading the article.
and yes i realize I did spell Mr Bardsdales name inccorectly
Have you ever thought that accidents happen? The report did state that Barkesdale was driving a "low profile vehicle" and conditions were bad. Do you happen to know other than the stated location where this happened, have you driven up there to see? Highway 13 north is notorious for bad accidents as it is. Yes the firefighter emt should not have attempted to pass, and if it were me in a white vehicle of any type in blowing snow conditions I would have thought to have turned my lights on. The "punk kid" was not drunk was not under the influence he just made a bad decision. Try to think of both sides of the story here and not just one!!
I have worked with the CPD and MOCO SO in the past and there are many good LEO's. You must not forget that Mr. Johnson was not working on the streets which is who many community members deal with. Unfortunatly it seems that all it takes is one or two bad apples to ruin the rep of a otherwise good group of people. LEO's as a whole take a bad rap but they DO come when needed and it is not thier fault when the criminals they try so hard to get off the streets are released by the judicial system. It would be hard for me to deal with what they do and continue to do the job. To see the good I try to do get thrown back in my face and have the community see me as not doing my job. But it seems as more and more people have negative interactions with LEO's the more the majority will hate them regardless of past or future contacts if any.
Ok als I have definetly come to the conclusion that you need to live somewhere far away from people. From your comments on other articles you have very little if anything positive to say. I agree that people should keep their pets on their own property. I too have a few neighbors that let their cats roam free and am very tired of finding them in my yard. But that does not give you the right to leave such negative comments on anything and everything. Everyone is intitled to their own opinions yes but it does not mean we have to hear all of yours.
I can understand the worry the owners of the hotel have. I also agree with luvbug that they have done a lot to improve the hotel the recent work has been an improvement. I do not agree with what the developers are doing however. To kick off DeVries is just uncalled for. How petty can a company be?? There is no development there and knowing the slow rate of some construction projects in Craig it could be years before it acctually happens. And thats assuming the City acctually approves it!!! Why not leave the businesses alone untill you acctually get ready to do something instead of irritating the locals and their business.
