I am an insurance agent and although I did not insure the country mall building I beleive there are some facts about insurance I should share. Most people insure their buildings for Replacement cost (RC) instead of for Actual Cash Value (ACV). ACV is the cost of the building when it was built minus the depreciation. In the case of the mall that is the 655,000 Value aproximately. In today's market it would probably cost the 2.2 million to replace the building. I do not believe this building was over insured. Insurance companies will only pay out the amount it would cost to replace the building or the limit of insurance which ever is less. This means that if you have a home that would cost 300,000 to replace and you insure it for 1 million you will only receive 300,000 from the insurance company, but they will charge you a premium on the 1 million. Over insuring a building to try and receive more money when it is destroyed does not work it only costs you more money in premiums. I hope this has helped a little to put the insurance in perspective.

I was glad that the cup stacking was in the news paper. It was the first time the kids went to the cup stacking event. My daughter went and had a good time even thought she did not win. It was a good learning tool for the children and I applaud Mr. Sperl for his efforts on it. I am sorry the hockey team was not also mentioned.

If hunting ever happens in town let me know when and I will go on vacation. I don't want any of the lunitics we see running around during hunting season shooting in town. I have been close to being shot in the city limits enough during that time already. I know the deer are a nuisance, but please no shooting my kids live here.
