Dave, I don't know why the board is not looking at other land. I don't think there has been a meeting since the college deal failed. That is a good question. Maybe they still will. I guess you will just have to call a board member and ask or attend a meeting and ask "why". I think east of Ranney and South of First St. is what I would call and ideal place. I know I have visited about 20 fire training facilitys around the country and there are lots of them in residentual areas.
Dave, If you follow this link, http://www.rawlins-wyoming.com/facilities.aspx?search=1&CID=2&RID=5&Page=detail
This is Rawlins Wy. fire training building. I think it is close to what is proposed for Craig. If you click on the Google map and go to street view you can see how their building is in the middle of a residential area. Looks like about 10 multi story apartments right across the street and numerous houses and a trailer park across the street on three sides. Now, I also would like to see CRFPD be able to build somewhere else but in my opinion I don't see many problems with the proposed location. I guess we will all wait and see. As for wind.... We all know Rawlins never gets any wind.
rwarner2012, I think you are confusing the Whooping Crane and the Sandhill. The Whooping Crane (Grus americana), the tallest North American bird, is an endangered crane species named for its whooping sound.
I think because of the Whooping Crane nesting is why they close California Park until July. Not the Sandhill.
highway1340, The paper say's only 86 total voters. Pretty sad. Don't know how many voters in the Fire District but it has to be way over 5,000. Lot's of bitching on the forum about wanting change . Looks like it was all talk. Congat's to Byron and Allen.
Editorial Board, Now that was a good, positive editorial. Thank you
Friends of Moffat County Education, fantastic job !!!!
Welcome home, Thank you for your service.
Taxpayer, I tried to explain to you I retired in 2005 and told you I did not have a clue to your answer. I suggested you contact the fire station for your answer and then you could post it for everyone to see. What was so hard about that to understand? I tried to help you get the answers you wanted by giving you a phone number. Sorry I got into your personal life.
Taxpayer, Does someone have to wipe your butt for you in the morning? Ask yourself, I assume you do know what a telephone is. again 824-5914, it is really simple. By the way.... I liked the cartoon...and if it is about me, I think I should get some kind of royalty or at least Bryce should take me to lunch...
Insider1313, I'm sorry you live in fear for your job as a firefighter. I never had that fear when I served. If you where on the Fire Department when I was, you know there were some very "lively" discussions and different opinions. Everyone knew what my thoughts were and how I got to them. I hoped that that interaction brought me more respect as I respected their views. But......With that being said, you know as much as I do that firefighting is about trust. Your life and your brother and sisters life may depend on each other. That trust is developed by honesty and sharing your limitations of what you are comfortable doing as a firefighter and your views. I never was comfortable doing confined space. I loved to rappel, but that rope seemed way too small to hold my fat butt so I was always uncomfortable. So what I'm trying to say you can't express your views in secret and keep that trust.
Taxpayer, I retired in 2005. I have not a clue when they used Hayden's building or how often. How do you know other Fire Departments are reading this? Here is what I would do....... You call 824-5914. You get the answer You want and You post the answer. I hope You all ready know my position on this issue. Besides my fingers are getting tired of typing !!!!!! See you at the meeting tonight??????
