I'm sure Fallon was great with little kids. My understanding of the problem with her is that she over exaggerated things to make up crimes and lied in police reports. I am curious if this is why she was fired. What came out in court?
Maybe it is because some of the teachers in Moffat Schools are incompetent and the schools cannot or will not get rid of them.
Maybe it's because no matter how poorly a student does, they go to the next grade, so their feelings are not hurt.
Maybe it's because the school has students cram for these tests, rather than actually teaching the material throughout the year, so when they take the test, it would be a measure, rather than a “fund raiser” (This is what some teachers have told the students the tests were).
The schools should evaluate the tests, find out what teacher's have too many students scoring low and get rid of those teachers. And, if there is a large percentage throughout the school, get rid of the administrators.
Eastsidebonnie, My stone comment wasn't ignorance… it was sarcasm. Sarcasm is a sharply ironical taunt. I will try not to be too condescending here (that's when you talk down to someone). I have read the bible, so I do understand the reference. I also remember reading that the Deity character of the book states that man rules over the beasts. I have to say. I do agree with you that human murders and sex offenders should be put down, just like these dogs, you yourself explained rehabilitation efforts are futile. People were upset and continue to be upset by these people being let loose. You just didn't get as emotional and upset, because you agreed with them.
I will assume that you are a vegan, because if you are not, that would make you a hypocrit. I also hope that you don't wear anything made of leather, such as belts or shoes, since killing an animal is murder. Also, plants are living things. If you are concerned about killing living things, please do not eat any animals or plants or use any of their by-products and see how far that gets you.
As to being ignorant, I believe most of the people posting have some knowledge of what they are writing about and utilizing that knowledge to formulate an opinion. You are the one who seems to be shooting from the hip and answering impulsively without knowledge, as you do not know the ancestory of anyone here to know if their parents were related (inbred), nor do you know if any of the people posting are unsophisticated (hick), simply because you don't agree with others.
You are also right that calling someone “stupidest” would be acting like a six year old. I guess calling everyone “inbred” bumps you by a year or two, to the level of an 8 year old, it is a more sophisticated term.
So, If you truly believe destroying life is wrong, let us know how you are doing after not eating plants or animals for a month.
Eastsidebonnie, Since I have never mauled a human and left a seven inch injury that caused a serious, potentially life-threatening infection, I feel free to cast stones. Animals know what they are doing, that is why they are able to be trained to not do things, such as get on furniture or try to kill people.
If, you were correct, and the dogs truly were not at fault, because they were only doing what is natural, why don't all dogs, or even all pit bulls randomly attack every person moving past them without provication? The answer is simple…
The dogs did choose to attack.
If you truly believe that dogs are unable to think and make choices, you need to start actually paying attention to your dog, because if you truly cared for your animal, you would see that it has an intelligence and thought processes, especially if you were working on training it to behave appropriately. If you really believe your own statement that you cannot control your animal, just have your dog euthanized now, because it will be the next one to attack and injure a person.
Anytime an animal hospitalizes a person, the animal should be killed.
The law states it is illegal for a child to possess or consume alcohol.
Theoretically if an adult allows a child to possess or consume alcohol (other than the stated exceptions) they are contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Wouldn't the person(s) over 21 at the party fit this definition?
It also seems that this allows for lazy police work. Doesn't matter if the owner of the home is aware of the party or not, they are now responsible and now have to worry about their own legal issues rather than the fact their child is drinking.
Just out of curiosity… since this would be a city ordinance, does that mean that it would go through City Court, rather than the District Attorney's office?
If this ordinance passes, that could be illegal. I didn't even think about cough syrup and many home and over the counter cold remedies. Many of them have alcohol in them. Treating your child's cold symptoms will become a punishable offence.
1. People who drink alone with their children. 2. People who allow their kids to taste alcohol during a family barbecue 3. Parties that include each parent of each child at the party. 4. Churches that serve wine during their communion ceremonies
Here is what the state law says CRS 18-13-122 (2) (a) Any person under twenty-one years of age who possesses or consumes ethyl alcohol anywhere in the state of Colorado commits illegal possession or consumption of ethyl alcohol by an underage person.
(3) It shall be an affirmative defense to the offense described in subsection (2) of this section that the ethyl alcohol was possessed or consumed by a person under twenty-one years of age under the following circumstances:
(a) While such person was legally upon private property with the knowledge and consent of the owner or legal possessor of such private property and the ethyl alcohol was possessed or consumed with the consent of his parent or legal guardian who was present during such possession or consumption;
and 18-6-701. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
(1) Any person who induces, aids, or encourages a child to violate any federal or state law, municipal or county ordinance, or court order commits contributing to the delinquency of a minor. For the purposes of this section, the term “child” means any person under the age of eighteen years.
(2) Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is a class 4 felony.
I think these cover most of it. A parent can only give their child alcohol if the parent and the child are both at the same private residence. They cannot give other people's children alcohol, nor can they supply it if they are not present.
“This raises another point, which is the questionable decision by the county to not fund the project at all. Had the county contributed, perhaps the city wouldn't be asked for such a hefty portion to complete the project.”
The County has given the school money. If you look at Moffat county's website, almost half the taxes that are collected go to the school system. I believe the problem is mismanaged funds by administrators, giving themselves extras and making up job positions to former administrators, who may not be fully qualified to help with their retirement.
Let's hope the new superintendant does a better job.
Manufacturing definately needs to be brought back to America. I don't know why so many American companies have factories in China. It makes sense that if things are made in the US, people in the US have jobs and therefore money to spend in the US, which give money to US companies to make more things in the US, etc…

The only gaps I can see in the current laws are:
1. People who drink alone with their children.
2. People who allow their kids to taste alcohol during a family barbecue
3. Parties that include each parent of each child at the party.
4. Churches that serve wine during their communion ceremonies
Am I missing any?
