David, you actually raise some valid concerns regarding the location, but the comment about amigos peeing on things because they don't agree with our government is straight up racism and detracts from an otherwise sound argument that you present. Don't be ignorant.

The idea to make him wait a year is sort of an arbitrary time frame, I will give you that. I am in agreement that there ought to be some sort of repercussion of lying on the application - he shouldn't be allowed to simply turn around and resubmit it.

But I also don't feel like it's such an egregious violation that he should be banned from ever applying for a liquor license. So it seems like some sort of waiting period is in order. I just threw out one year as a suggestion.

I guess my main point here is that he is not a convicted sex offender, or a felon, nor is he applying for a job as a teacher or a public servant... So the standard for obtaining a liquor license should be lower than in other walks of life where background checks are necessary.

There ought to be some negative impact of him lying on the application, but I don't think it should preclude him all together.

As for the opinion that "Craig has enough liquor establishments," I don't think we ought to be pushing our own morality on other business owners. I think they deserve the same opportunities as any other liquor establishment, until they prove themselves unfit. (I acknowledge that lying on an application does not do much to generate good will with the community.)

I agree with the posters who say he ought to be denied on grounds of lying on his application.

I disagree with the posters who want to deny this establishment because it doesn't fit with their idea of what the community ought to look like.

Hopefully this guy learned an important lesson about integrity. They ought to make him wait a year before reapplying. But Craig isn't in a position to be turning down any new business tax revenue.

I stand corrected, if the bear had been previously tagged then I don't mind their decision as much. I got the impression from the first part of the story that they prematurely gave up on tranquilizing the animal.

I missed the portion of the story about the animal previously being tagged (in my rush to judgement). Apologies.

In the last week officials in Denver and Boulder both successfully tranquilized bears and moved them out of the city...

But not in Craig. Nope, these hillbilly Parks & Wildlife guys can't do their jobs properly, so they figure why not just kill the thing? And how about supplying the local paper with a couple of ignorant quotes to boot? People get outraged about paying politicians for incompetence - how about these morons collecting a check on the taxpayer's dime? Total incompetence.

Suppose hypothetically the doctor does write prescriptions freely (that's the impression I'm getting from the comment section).

We live in a free country - people ought to be able to choose what they put in their own bodies. This is nothing more than persecution and big brother interference with outdated and antiquated drug laws. Let the man practice in peace, we've got bigger problems to deal with in Washington.

@footballmom - I am from Craig, mam... But luckily I was not swallowed up by the ignorant redneck group think that is so endemic to the community.

I'm not giving a ringing endorsement to Obama by any means. In fact, I'll probably vote (write-in) Ron Paul because I'm not a huge fan of either candidate. But look at the idiotic comments that preceded me. There are a million policy disagreements that are very real - but people would rather focus on his middle name and paint him as anti-American, pro-terrorist. Which just proves how little these people know about anything.

Brian - get a clue. No one is discriminating based solely on age - this woman has two accidents behind the wheel of the bus. Common sense tells us she is not qualified to continue on the job, regardless of age, race or gender.

Discussing national politics in Craig is like reading college astrophysics to a 2 year old. It's a pointless exercise as they are incapable of understanding.
