This is about as open and shut as it gets. It was clearly premeditated. Give him the death penalty.

Of course Craig people would support this - they haven't the first clue what an effective local government looks like. The pandering is stupid to anyone who understands government - but the anti-federal platform is what Kinkaid got elected on, and Craig people seem to eat it up - so there is no incentive to stop.

The only thing that's nauseating is this letter to the editor.
“The Second Amendment’s primary function has always been to defend against a tyrannical government, and that need has never been greater than now.”
Are you kidding? I guess I've missed all the secret police raids and human rights being trampled.

What a joke. How about they focus on local government like they were elected to do instead of being alarmists and wasting everyone's time.

I'm with Calvin. I tend to think Craig's deficiencies have more to do with deadbeat parents than the actual system itself. That's not to say the education system can't be improved, but at some point parents have to burden their share of accountability.

It's funny to me that people willingly attach their name to such nonsense - AND seek to get it printed publicly. At least I know to steer clear of the crazy Laibs now.

Too bad we can't keep the Publisher and get rid of the Commissioners instead. Good luck, Bryce.

justiceortruth - I think you have completely misidentified the problem here. The CDP is merely a reflection of the community it represents. You pose the question “Does the paper have so little ability to get decent commentary as to seriously give this much column space to this type of blathering?”
The answer is a resounding yes. The bulk of letters they receive are incoherently ignorant, much like many members of the community. The news in Craig is slow moving and infrequent. The paper's budget is miniscule.
That's not to say there aren't plenty of smart, capable, great people in Craig. But let's be honest - the letters to the editor accurately reflect the majority of the community. It's not the paper's fault that Craig is filled with halfwits.

Small town politics at work - just remove the opinion(s) you don't agree with. Tom Gray is a disgrace. Mathers wouldn't be fit for office in any town besides Craig.

Many of the comments here are borderline disturbing.
Coloradogurl4lyfe said “I have no sympathy for cheaters,” as she tried to justify a premeditated murder. What planet are you from?
I understand that good people can make bad mistakes… But this goes way beyond a mistake. It takes a certain level of evil and hate to stab a person.
