— As lights go up and shelves go in at the corner of Green Street and Victory Way, a store opening looms.

Walgreens corporate spokeswoman Carol Hively said there is no definite date for a grand opening at the national retail chain’s Craig location, but it is expected to open by the end of August.

She could say the store will not be open 24 hours a day.

At this time, Walgreens expects the store to be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. The pharmacy drive-through window will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day except Sunday, when it will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The store manager will be Jeremy Mattingley, who was managing a store in Riverton, Wyo., before coming to Craig.

Mattingley could not be reached by press time for comment.

Hively said Walgreens staffed most of the store from within the local community.

“We hired about 15 people locally, and the store is fully staffed at this time,” she said.

Walgreens offers a few different services for residents looking to pick up prescription medication.

Patients may call the store and order refills through a touch-tone phone system or at www.walgreens.com, or they can setup automatic refills at the store — ready each month — and receive e-mail reminders to get their prescription.

There also is the Express Pay system, which allows customers to keep a credit card number on file that is automatically charged each time someone picks up a prescription so they don’t have to wait to be rung up.

Parents may let their children use their Express Pay account, which can help families with sons and daughters away at college, Hively said.

Prescription labels can be printed in 14 different languages, including Spanish, and customers may speak with a pharmacist in their native language by phone at the Walgreens location.
