Believe me Craig gal, I found Heaven in Steamboat two weeks ago and haven't been the same since. Now if he would only return my calls........

Are they going to denver for a company to do a STUDY ON THIS ISSUE?

grannyrett 6 years, 2 months ago

Probably so. What do the local's here know. It's been the Memorial Hospital since it opened it's doors. Should be just as good when they open the new doors.

I wonder how much this little 'fact finding' committee is going to cost to research the feasibility of renaming the hospital?

I think "exploring" anything is a good option. Sometimes change is good. I'd hate to have people ask 25 years from now why the hospital is named "The Memorial Hospital" and the response is, "because that's the way it always was." When TMH moves, it will no longer be in the building dedicated to the war and its heros. The name in the new hospital will not have the same meaning as it does in the old one. Not only that, have you ever seen a business with "The" in the name? Come on people, let's at least hear what the options are. I'm interested to hear what some of the old timers have to say who were here (or whose families were here) when the building was originally built and it was named.

I'd like to see it rededicated to the war heros who never got to come home. We do have a new war on. plus a bunch of guys who came home to get pissed on by antiwar protesters. They are only now getting the respect They should have been shown in the first place. Memorial Hospital still sounds good to me. Its not a business its the county hospital paid for supplied by and approved by the residents of this county. Not a business out for profit. People in twenty five years won't understand Memorial?

Name it after the hospital on South Park, Hells Pass Hospital. Steamboat's hospital should be renamed Heaven's Gate Hospital and then we would have a choice of going to Heaven or Hell.

ha ha ha ha ha cforeveryeyez your hilarious. Since WHEN did steamboat become heaven? and PLEASE not another North West...... ANYTHING, look in the phone book it is full of so many things beginning with the name of North West. The Memorial Hospital??? sounds good to me, I say we go with that name.

sorry native I didn't mean to confuse you, I was taking a swipe at the city council. nothing with the hospital. reread it just thought I would start something.

We could rename it the bear eating elk pooping deer peeing on the bypass to wyoming leave us alone hospital if you want I don't believe any of those have been used.

grannyrett 6 years, 2 months ago

50cal-I love your name for the new hospital. You forgot to put the ground hog in there somewhere. Got a chuckle out of me. When I read it to my better half, he chuckled too. Origional, for sure. No one else would have that name.

Craig_gal 6 years, 2 months ago

How about "bear eating elk pooping deer peeing on the bypass to wyoming leave us alone hospital if you want I don't believe any of those have been used" but than throw in a prairie dog or two

0

50cal 6 years, 2 months ago

hows this sound: bear eating a elk pooping on a deerpeeing ona prairie dog splattered on the by pass leave us alone and go to wyoming hospital? I dont't know where to fit the ground hog. will try to fit him. let me know what else I've forgotten.

I think at least the "THE" could go. I had surgery last year at "THE" Memorial Hospital and although I had it pre-approved through my insurance company, the "THE" really messed things up. My insurance approved my surgery at Memorial Hospital not at "THE" Memorial Hospital. After numerous phone calls and hours of sitting on hold I did get it straightened out but jeeezzzz, what a mess!!

0

Craig_gal 6 years, 2 months ago

Alright 50cal. I think you have it, except......... you left out "THE" . It needs to be "THE" bear eating an elk pooping on a deerpeeiing on a prairie dog splattered on the by pass leave us alone and go to wyoming hospital

redneckgirl 6 years, 2 months ago

Great, now the insurance company will be REALLY confused!

bigrred1576 6 years, 2 months ago

I think they should leave "well enough" alone. I am very suprised that no one has mentioned cost. After just approving $42+ million dollars, they want to see how much they can fiddle fart away on name changes. All new staionary will not be just a few dollars. If they want to change the name, can I have my vote back.

50cal 6 years, 2 months ago

there we have it, spoken and approved by our little band of merry makers. don't worry bigred this will only cost 20,000 to send to denver for a study.

this was sweet

50cal 6 years, 2 months ago

native oh native! wouldn't that look great on a business card? I can't wait, I'll print up your first set if you want.

0

Craig_gal 6 years, 2 months ago

redneck girl, maybe we can make an acronym out of "THE" title then we wont have all the confusion from the insurance company :-) right...
Hey 50cal, can you make the acronym into something that would include the dang ground hog?

grannyrett 6 years, 1 month ago

50cal and Craig_gal----You guys gotta stop doing this to me. I was laughing to hard and the air is so thin up here in Leadville that I almost blacked out from lack of oxygen. We are leaving for the low country today though, so keep it going.

trenches and holes everywhere, trip horses everyday, thats hard Craig_gal. I'm burning brain cells on this one.

kkcmsw 6 years, 1 month ago

You can change the name, you can change the building, but it still will not change the quality of service.

Changing a name will cost quite a bit, so they better be sure that a new name will be worth the cost.

0

50cal 6 years, 1 month ago

I can't beleive you would think that this name wouldn't attract the best doctors there are in the country. THE bear eating a elk pooping on a deer peeing on a prairie dog splattered on the bypass leave us alone on the way to wyoming hospital. No one would ever confuse our hospital with any other.

0

Craig_gal 6 years, 1 month ago

"THE bear eating an elk pooping on a deer peeing on a prairie dog splattered on the bypass leave us alone on the way to wyoming hospital" should come as no charge, what about it 50cal do you think you could donate your idea for the greater cause of health care, it seems we dont want money to be an issue for such a fantastic idea. Hey everyone keep working on the ground hog, maybe then the insurance company's wont be as confused

0

50cal 6 years, 1 month ago

consider it done I will even wave the study fee. even the insurance companies shouldn't be confused by this name. ground hog, wissle pig, wood chuck, marmit all pretty hard to get into THE.

Wellllll, the survey shows that the COUNTY residents have voiced an opinion that the hospital has asked for and that opinion says leave the name alone. THe vote is 2 to 1 in favor of leaving the name the same, but do you think the hospital will do it? Nooooooo? Me either. Like the post said on the other post, the hospital administration doesn't care what anyone says. They are accountable to no one. They will do what they want regardless of how it will impact our community, because it is what THEY want. In addition to voting for the name change (NO), I would like to make a vote of no confidence in the guys running that place. Once they are done all we will have left is a big pile of Bear Crap, so that is what we should name it just like others have suggested.

0

Craig_gal 6 years, 1 month ago

oops 50cal, CindyLou makes sense and you notice there was not a THE in it, this should also solve redneckgirls insurance problems. As for the rest of the comments I do agree with CIndyLou that we have a hospital that really does NOT care about public input and opinion (hmmmmm what happened to Randy Phelps??? he had wonderful PR skills). Many residents complain about the medical care at the hospital but I have to tell you that the nursing staff is awesome. I have used the services several times and never had to question the care. Too bad current administration can't put the public first but after all we might have to go back fifty years. Big Pile of Bear Crap, yup

0

50cal 6 years, 1 month ago

Craig_gal it always seems to end up as a steaming pile of bear crap in the end doesn't it? well BEAR CRAP HOSPITAL. I can see that sign. In the bear valley where the administration doesn't give a bear crap about the voters, we are going to continue having bear crap for doctors, The ceo doesn't know bear crap about running a hospital, Budgeters don't know bear crap about numbers, (gotta love the nurses though they are kinda like the sargents of the marine corps)

We have finally found the right name
