Rockslide on U.S. Highway 40 on March 28
Colorado Department of Transportation removes a truck from the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 40 after a rockslide Monday morning. The truck and a vehicle following it drove into the eastbound lane to avoid the slide but could not avoid the rocks.

The slide, which happened at about 8 a.m., closed the highway for more than 2 hours. The highway was limited to one lane for most of the day as crews worked to clean up a large section of rock that had fallen on to the road.

The rocks struck two westbound vehicles and closed the road for two hours. One lane of the road was reopened as crews had to use explosives to break up the rock before it could be removed.
