Communities at work: Sending flowers

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this edition of Communities at Work focuses on some of our community members who have one of their busiest weeks of the year ahead of them. Florists spend much of the year working on flower arrangements for life’s celebrations, such as weddings, funerals, birthdays and graduations, as well as random thank you and get well sentiments. Next week, many people with a special someone in the Moffat County area will rely on these florists to deliver heartfelt messages. Here is a glimpse at two locally owned and operated florists in Craig. The Flower Mine, on Victory Way, and Florette Flowers, on Breeze Street, are loaded with roses and ready to make a flower arrangement for your special someone to help make Valentine’s Day unique. — Photos and text by Shawn McHugh/Daily Press

Deloris St. Louis cuts the ribbon on an arrangement of roses, carnations, pixy carnations and lilies just before going on display Thursday in the showroom of her business, Florette Flowers. St. Louis has more than $1,000 in flowers on hand as preparation for a busy Valentine’s week.
