Veterans Day, 2009 November 13, 2009
This special edition of Communities At Work features Americans whose service in the military paved the way for the rest of the Craig community to go to work and live their daily lives under the umbrella of freedom. This edition is a thank you to veterans who served their country and the institutions, organizations and businesses who participated in making Veterans Day on Wednesday an honorable day of the year. American flags lined Craig’s busiest streets, thanks to the Craig Rotary Club, and the smell of hotdogs and hamburgers came from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, which hosted a barbecue in honor of veterans and their families. Moffat County High School turned the holiday into a daylong educational event, hosting guest speakers, and offering presentations and performances. The school’s tributes also included a flag ceremony, taps and a 21-shot gun salute presented by members of the VFW Post and American Legion. — Text and photos by Shawn McHugh

Question of the week
Should the Craig Chamber of Commerce revise its State of the County attendance policy to allow people to hear speakers without paying for a ticket?
