Jeremiah Herman, community relationship manager for Relay for Life, speaks to a crowd Wednesday at the Relay For Life kickoff at Centennial Mall. This year's goal is to raise $105,000 through the event, which is scheduled for July 17 at the Moffat County High School track.
Winners of the Downtown Books/The Print Shop Second Annual Bookmark Contest are, from left to right, Hailey Cass, Hali Reyes and Erica Davidson. Reyes, a second-grader in Mrs. Arnett's class at Sunset Elementary, won first place, and Cass, also in Arnett's class, won second place. Davidson, a fourth-grader in Mrs. Haslem's class at Sunset, won third place. Winners were presented with their awards Monday at Downtown Books. They were awarded with Spree Bucks. Reyes' first-place entry will be made into a bookmark that will be available at the bookstore and the Moffat County Libraries.
Cub Scouts Pack No. 166 hosted a Pinewood Derby on March 7 at the Centennial Mall. Thirty-nine cars were entered.

A group of 17 snowmobilers, including veterans and Northwest Colorado Snowmobile Club members made the 60-mile trip Feb. 28 to the base of Pilot's Knob, shown above, north of Hayden. Elkhorn Winter Adventures supplied the snowmobiles, helmets and tour, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265 supplied lunch for the veterans.
