Baking up a dream Lyndi Wellman is an enterprising young woman. She runs an informal bakeshop out of her family's home near Hamilton known as Lyndi's Milk Creek Home Bakery. All the while, she's studying culinary and business at Mesa State College and hopes to open a bakery store once she graduates. Baking is something Wellman said comes naturally to her, the product of being a part of 4-H for 13 years and part of the group's baking program for 11. She has spent the summer selling her wares at the Craig Farmers Market, but once that ends, prospective customers can still call her for special orders at 620-6441 or 824-4736.
Lyndi Wellman prepares a braided crust Thursday for a triple berry pie she is making at her home near Hamilton. Wellman makes many different types of pies, a couple of cakes, cookies and cabbage rolls at her family's home.
Wellman empties pecan pie filling into a crust she made. Wellman said she enjoys making all different types of pies, but pumpkin is her favorite.
