2009 Moffat County Fair August 11, 2009
Wyatt Oberwitte makes a turn Saturday during lawnmower races at the 91st annual Moffat County Fair. Oberwitte took first in the youth category and also took first with his father, Richard, in the main event, which included 14 laps and riders trading off at half way.

Elaine Sullivan, Moffat County Clerk and Recorder, kisses a pig Saturday night at the Moffat County Fair. City and county employees voted on which employee they wanted to see kiss the pig as part of a United Way fundraiser. Sullivan, as she had hoped, got the most votes and earned the honor.

Above are winners from the third annual Barbecue Cook-off and Dessert Contest on Aug. 1 at the Moffat County Fair. From left are Adrian Nelson, Whitney Wilde, Wyatt Oberwitte, Kelly Hatten, Darren Wilde and Richard Oberwitte. Nelson won first place, along with $200 and the traveling trophy, for his brisket. Whitney Wilde won second place and $150 for pork butts. Wyatt Oberwitte, who cooked a pig, won third place and $100. Hatten won fourth place and $50 for pork butts. Wilde and Oberwitte, who cooked a goat, won fifth place and a gift bag from the Kitchen Shop of Craig.
Peggy Bailey, left, and Sarah Van Grandt, won first and third place, respectively, in the third annual Barbecue Cook-off and Dessert Contest on Aug. 1 at the Moffat County Fair. Bailey won $50 for her winning Mississippi mud cake entry. Van Grandt won a gift bag from the Kitchen Shop of Craig for her banana split cupcakes.
