Needles and pins October 18, 2008
Walking into Hems & Hers by Joyce, a painting lets customers know that everything is "Stiched With Love." Joyce Swaney, owner of the business at 33 West Victory Way, jokes that the hours on the door say 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but you can find her at a sewing machine almost any time. It comes from a lifetime with the needle and thread, and since acquiring the business about five years ago, she does custom embroidery and alterations, as well as tuxedo rentals and apparel.
Joyce Swaney works in her shop Friday on Victory Way. The front half of her store is used to display apparel, and the back half is where she sews and does embroidery.
