Ripley Bellio, 17, of Craig, brought back 18 ribbons from her first Colorado State Fair, which ran from Aug. 23 through Sept. 2 in Pueblo. Bellio competed in the 2013 horse show at the fair, using her self-trained horse in several events she never had competed in before. She took fifth overall in the rodeo events, including first place in the flags on Day One. In ranch horse versatility events, Bellio was sixth overall. "That's the first time I've ever shown ranch horse versatility," she said. "We held our own pretty well, and I'm excited for next year. It goes to show that if you feel like doing something, then you should just go do it." Bellio thanked her parents and Doug and Michelle Foulk for their instrumental roles in helping her prepare and get to the fair.
