Hunt was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the BLM Snake River Office for "outstanding help in the understanding and preservation of the paleontological resources found on public lands in Northwest Colorado." Hunt has found and reported multiple new paleontology sites in Northwest Colorado containing fossils from the Eocene to the Cretaceous periods (45 million to 65 million years old).
