Despite rising temperatures cooking the fairways at Yampa Valley Golf Course on Friday, Brandon Martin, 16, looked cool as a cucumber. In addition to the heat, Martin was teeing off against a pro — standing just feet away from the young golfer as he warmed up his swing stood two-time Cottonwood Classic Golf Tournament Champion Keith Humerickhouse. Two holes ahead of the group, local legend Deems Utzinger was maneuvering through his 45th Cottonwood Classic on a course he has learned every dip and corner of after making it his home away from home for 47 years. Utzinger played in the first tournament ever held at the course in 1968. He hasn't missed a single one since.
