Loudy-Simpson Park, 500 S. Ranney St., edged out other outdoor destinations like Black Mountain and Browns Park to take the titles of best recreation spot and best place overall in Moffat County in the 2012 Best of Moffat County contest. The park offers a playground, soccer fields, four baseball and softball fields, fishing spots, and jogging and walking trails. It also is home to Moffat County Ice Arena, which is open to skaters as well as hockey competitions. This year, for the first time, the park hosted the annual Whittle the Wood Rendezvous, one of the city’s biggest events.
