Hunter Beckett, 10, stands Jan. 20 outside his classroom at Sandrock Elementary School. Hunter received an official Colorado Avalanche hockey puck and will get an Avalanche jersey with his name on the back when he skates with the team March 24 at the Pepsi Center.
Hunter Beckett, 10, was selected by the Moffat County Commissioners to skate with the Colorado Avalanche during the team’s warm-up before playing the Vancouver Canucks on March 24 at the Pepsi Center. Hunter said he is excited to skate with professional hockey players and to see if hockey is something he wants to pursue as he gets older.

Ralston and Associates of Steamboat Springs, shows how the east end of The Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic will be renovated to make room for rehabilitation services. TMH officials plan to move the hospital’s rehabilitation center, which is currently located inside Centennial Mall, into the clinic this spring.

Ticket sales begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at the restaurant, with doors opening at 2 p.m. The 66th annual play is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 2 and 3.
The Moffat County High School girls varsity swimming team will compete in the Western Slope regional meet today and Saturday at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction. Head coach Meghan Francone said the Bulldogs are hoping to post a few more state qualifying times in the final competition before the 4A state meet.
Rick Barnes, a candidate for Moffat County Commission’s District 2 seat, outlines his platform for election Thursday night during a candidate forum hosted by the Bears Ears Tea Party Patriots at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave. Barnes believes fostering county and city relationships should extend beyond the limits of Craig to include Hamilton, Maybell and Dinosaur.
Dave DeRose, a candidate for Moffat County Commission’s District 1 seat, chats with former county commissioner Darryl Steele after a candidate forum Thursday night at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave. In addition to outlining his campaign platform, DeRose, who is a former City of Craig mayor, said he would be interested in looking into the possibility of hiring a county manager if elected.

The event took place at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave., and provided five candidates vying for two seats on the Moffat County Commission an opportunity to address the issues and outline their platforms for election.
