Jury trial set for June

After nearly 11 hours of testimony Thursday, a judge ruled there’s sufficient evidence to move forward with a first-degree murder case against Craig resident Leroy David Fief. A two-week jury trial is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. June 17. In the meantime, 14th Judicial District Chief Judge Michael O’Hara ordered that Fief continue to be held without bond at the Moffat County Public Safety Center.

A Craig resident suspected of murder appeared today in Moffat County District Court for a status conference. Leroy Fief, 48, of Craig, is charged in district court with one count of murder, a Class 1 felony. He remains in custody at Moffat County Jail and is being held without bond.

Leroy Fief, 48, of Craig, is charged in district court with one count of first-degree murder, a Class 1 felony. He is in custody at Moffat County Jail and is being held without bond, pending a proof evident hearing scheduled for Dec. 19. Chief Judge Michael O’Hara presided over Monday’s proceedings. He explained to Fief his rights and potential penalties should he plead or be found guilty of the murder charge at trial.
