Elkhead Reservoir has been a hot spot this summer for recreation. Fishing, boating, hiking and swimming were all popular activities around the lake in July.
Water levels have dropped a little at Elkhead Reservoir, but it has not been enough to keep recreational users off the water. Boat traffic was good throughout July, according to Elkhead boat inspectors. Here, a boater kicks off August Wednesday at Elkhead.
Charlie Epp takes a look into his smoker during the first Colorado State BBQ Championship at Craig in 2010. This year’s event will be hosted in conjunction with the Moffat County Balloon Festival. The Balloons and BBQ Blast takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Loudy-Simpson Park. The BBQ kicks off at 9 a.m. Friday, with awards distributed at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
