Congressman Scott Tipton recently announced his intention to introduce legislation to free up and redistribute surplus royalty money collected from oil and gas drilling near the Roan Plateau previously designated as Naval Oil Shale reserve. Although Tipton has not yet introduced the legislation, dividing up the $50 million surplus among the federal government and four Northwest Colorado counties could land Moffat County up to $2.5 million.
